Hydro Plaining.. :(

Hydro plained last Saturday when it was raining & and hit the metal railing on the freeway.. Luckily I wasn't hurt nor I hit anyone else.. here are some photos. Now I'm in a rut. I don't know if it's fixable! So the car is completely stock, except for megan racing coilovers. Interior is extremely clean! Anyways I can either sell it for I don't know how much or part out? What do you guys think?

Renton 02-15-10 05:34 PM

Battle Cat 02-15-10 07:10 PM

thats fixable... just fix it get it painted and BAM done.

SmogSUX 02-15-10 07:14 PM

That's SUPER fixable. Find a guy that knows a little about body work. Hit that shit with the tack welder and reverse hammer. A little high quality bondo. Spray. Enjoy. Oh and you need a new tail light :D

or sell it to me for say....$500? :D:D

EvanchiX 02-16-10 01:08 AM

Ya it looks fixable, just take it to a good body shop I am sure they can make it look like new.

TheAbsence 02-16-10 01:34 AM

Looks fixable but you definitely shouldn't be running coilovers. Ship them to me and I'll send you out a stock replacement setup. You're welcome.

DC 91 fc3s 02-16-10 01:44 AM

get it fixed, buy some falken 912 and call it a day =]

the 912 are pretty good tires.. handle very well in the rain/wet surface, and even good on snow =]..... id know i drove to the moutains witht hem 2 weeks ago...

sorry to hear you messed up your rear corner though =/ good luck with repair

TheAbsence 02-16-10 01:48 AM

Why buy rain tires in southern California? I've got summer tires - BFG G-Force Sports on my car and have no issues even on stock 205's.

meximan 02-16-10 01:59 AM

Fix it dude. EZ schmeezy shit.

Renton 02-16-10 02:09 AM

There's no fold in the body or anything, so it still looks strong. Have someone (who knows what they're doing) pull as much of the dent out as they can, and do some filling and painting.

All season tires are cheap too.

Miata_mx5 02-16-10 02:59 AM

You had a small accident.

You should sell or part your car, leave the Rx7 community, and get a honda civic DX.

Best plan.

2ndgencab 02-16-10 03:20 AM

Marck 02-16-10 03:21 AM

socalrotor 02-16-10 10:42 AM

puhpaper 02-16-10 12:38 PM

the rx7 club saves the day!

ParadoxToday 02-16-10 01:36 PM

Dude, You'll be fine, if your a real cheapo...

get a happer, and start reversing the damage as much as you can, My dad used to do that to all his cars... He was able to bang out like 90% of the dent. The rest you can fill with high quality bondo if it really needs it. and sand it a little, and paint match and ur finito.

minuteman7 02-16-10 03:25 PM

haha thanks guys! Might just have to fix it then.

rotary_bünta 02-17-10 04:15 PM

looks repairable to me.. i wouldnt part out, just fix it up..

funkjaw 02-17-10 04:57 PM

So what happened exactly? Were you driving crazy or anything? Hit a bump?

mike_merryguy 02-17-10 11:07 PM

first off next time you hydroplane just hit the clutch, snow rain hitting it to hard on a corner that usually will get your car out of the uncontrollable actions, then you can put it back where it needs to go...

other than that a new bulb and some red tape and you are on the road till you find a body shop and some parts...

So what happened exactly? Were you driving crazy or anything? Hit a bump?
so cal residents have NO BUSINESS driving in the rain, stay your hippie asses at home and let us guys from out of state have a fuckin blast on the highway, there is no reason you can't drive the same way you do on dry roads as wet roads, the first 15 min is the 'worst' time of the rain, well not always here, drainage does suck in some places, but if you know how to drive you will be okay...

i do have to admit though last saturday was pretty bad, i went to san diego from san clemente in my FD and was pretty nervous, it was raining so hard I couldn't see 100 ft in front of me... leg was a little tired from covering the clutch for an hour LOL
