high output alternator

I've searched around and most of what i found was people with really expensive 200A alternators.

What i would like to do (suggestions appreciated too) is have my alternator upgraded. My alternator hit 13V today idling and dropped to 12.5 when i started to go. I dont have a sound system (just 4 speakers and a head unit = near stock) and dont have AC...do i need something like a 140A alternator or could i get away with using the 100A one?
I'm installing the XS engineering power pack II ignition amp soon with new plug wires and a grounding kit. The alternator ate shit when i installed an ignition amp recently (went to like 12 amps) but this XS unit will probably draw even more power. Still i think its possible to use only the 100A alternator due to my lack of electronics. If I should need to get a 140A upgraded alternator, does anyone know where i could buy one or a shop that could upgrade mine.

BTW ORANGE COUNTY AREA PLZ...

Thx in advance,
Brian

Alternator

Newport Beach, my old stompin grounds back when It only took 30-45 minutes to get there from Riverside.lol
I don't know of anyone down there anymore but check with Napa Auto they offer I believe a
Bosch upgrade for your FD. Otherwise check with your local Alternator rebuilding shop or the local stereo shop. Alot of times they have a source or recomendation. Good luck.

Heat has a major factor in alternator VOLTAGE. My powermaster 200a would make 15+ volts when the temp droped to under 20. As the temp increases the voltage ALWAYS dropped. I didnt have a DMM that could take a 200 amp hit so I dont know it the amprage output was effected, but I will assume it dropped with the voltage. If you dont plan on a sub amp, I think that a 100 amp unit is up to the task. You must also be sure that your wiring is up to the task of delivering 100+ amps back to the battery. If your unsure about the ALT., you can pull it and have it checked for amperage/voltage output for free at most parts stores.
