Gentlemen beware of new members posting WANTED TO BUY ads.

Until they have reached a minimum of 20 post (introducing themselves and exploring their car) not posting BS like "cool" i agree" "cool fd bro" "volks sick"

^^^yes those are the posts they are doing.

Couple of our fellow members have been getting scammed by new members posting wanted ads. You ship them the parts they bought and as soon as you hand over that tracking. BLAM paypal charges back on that payment you received.

This is your heads up so please be cautious when dealing with new members.

Again this is just my advice do as you wish. I look at their statistics see their threads and post. I will look up their name on Facebook first hand to make sure they match up here and their car. And last if they are friends with any members currently active.

but still a new member coming on here asking for coilovers with zero post saying he doesn't care if they are blown or not should raise a red Flag.....should.

That's terrible, but as the shipper, you can re-route the package as long as it hasn't been delivered. So if things go bad in-transit, you should be able to send them back to yourself. At least with UPS / Fed-Ex you should. If they go south after delivery, that's another matter... Be careful out there. In the early days of EBay, UPS did COD's I don't know if they still do, but they require cash or cashiers check, that may also be a better way. Either way, there are other ways that are more of a PITA, but keep you safe.

Newbie here. :newbie:

I had the opposite happen to me. A long time member was giving me the runaround after I sent him paypal. I had to file a complaint before he finally decided to give me a tracking number almost a month later.

Any time you're buying or selling with private parties, you're gonna have some issues here and there. Best of luck to all!

BTW, I can vouch for SF2OC as a good buyer!

Best Methods when selling to avoid being scammed?

Thanks to you all for posting this information! Can you detail what are the best steps or process to prevent being scammed? I am unfamiliar with the charge back via PayPal, can you not just deny the charge like a credit card? With COVID-19, are there carriers that allow Cash On Delivery? I am getting ready to clear some shop space of 1st Gen parts and don’t have the extra time to chase selling issues but want to see parts go to true enthusiasts so want to list her on the Club vs selling parts locally only via Fleabay or CL. Thanks!
