I heard that you could run denatured alcohol to get better numbers on your emissions tests... i'm not in cali so all i need to pass is the hydrocarbons test.

What do you have done to your car? I would test it first before you start putting stuff in it.
An FD came in to my shop and it wouldn't pass.... I told him some stuff that could be done to get it clean, but instead of listening to me he took it to Rick's Rotary to have him figure it out from the results I gave him. Rick decided to put alcohol in it to clean it up.... Guy came back and it still wouldn't pass... not any better at all. His problems were NoX and HC. |
from what i gather i'm looking at 3.5:1 gas to ALC. Ive got a weber and a Wideband so tuning it won't be too hard. lol

An FD engine is a very different beast mechanically from an S1/S2, from am engine management standpoint. Might be that alcohol helps in some specific circumstances, not in others. If it were a cure-all, it'd probably be mandatory. I wish there was a way I could do some honest, scientific controlled testing, but I have no sniffer, and at the moment my car passes well as-is. |

13b GSL-SE weber carb large street port racing beat oil cooler lines racing beat intake racing beat header there is a cat on it but it's either a hiflo racing or hollow,bc it's way quicker than a stock cat and a big F'n muffler from all the info I have read I think i'm good to go, the search button does wonders.. I kindof just wanted a couple recent opinions lol the main thing i'm consistantly getting is... tank low before the mix and run to the place then fill up after. I would pretest but the info of pass and fail goes straight to the DMV and if I get a hard fail then the next day I pass with flying colors they might make me go to the emissions lab and do a visual... and that would suck considering the only accesory bolted to my block is the alternator. i'm sure they would jump all over me for that. |
Um I doubt you will pass... BUT there is only one way to find out. Let us know how it goes :)
