Overall, great weekend :)

November Info

So this weekend was great for brainstorming for new ideas. For the chopping block in the future we got Sal's here in Selma, the racing sims over in Fresno, I still want to do a nice cruise up the mountain, a potluck/movie day at Pat an Kat's if they permit us to swing by, and definitely more shenanigans at Palm Tree.

With all these places there's just one thing we are missing...people. It seems a lot of people started falling of the face of the forum and go back into hiding in the garage. I know there's still hope and a lot of potential for the valley so I'm going to be pushing forward to keep us alive :)

Now then, this month's meet will be on the 19th which is in about 2 an a half weeks. I wanted to throw it at either Sals here in Selma or in Kingsburg at the Sonic there. I'm going to be bugging people again for the last time this year lol so hopefully we can get a good group in

DrifterDuo 11-01-11 10:40 PM

Bummed I missed the palm tree meet, I totally forgot about it. Hopefully I can make this next one.

we'll see what happens, I know it's going to be around Christmas/new years so not sure who's going to be around but I'll keep you posted

FD3Schick 11-04-11 04:26 AM

Sevenstock was definitely a lot of fun! Thanks to everyone at Palm Tree Rotary for letting us stop by afterwards. Can't wait until November 19th. :D

Figs 11-06-11 05:46 PM

I was thinking over for the meet, maybe we should just have it over at sonic in Kingsburg. It seems like it would be an easier place to meet up and we all for the most part know the parking scheme they have. I think a well rounded time to meet up will be about 5pm if everyone is cool with that.

I hope we can get everyone out there again like we did back at fosters. I know there's a lot of people that still have the rotary spirit and honestly as long as you make it out just to chit chat with everyone we don't turn people down. If you roll up in a raunchy honda we may say stuff behind your back :P jk but seriously, come as you are haha. None of this would be possible without any of you guys :) Now then, a list for next saturday

Thanks Jr :D
and we should be fine. The place is right off the edge of town and like a block away from the freeway exit so it shouldn't be too bad

Still struggling with getting the FB painted and reassembled. Work has been nuts. Things will slow down soon I hope. Looking forward to meeting up with everyone.

Well if you ever got time just to swing by you're more than welcome. Snap comes usually in his family van due to his projects still being in the back yard and lee came once on his bike since his car is in the shop. Not too many FB's around these parts so I'm sure everyone would love to see and hear of the progress from you :)

And the wheels are almost done so really comes done to a quart of paint and a lot of rubbing out little bits of trash in the finish. Of course the $200 dollars worth of rubber door and window seals goes without saying.

Figs 11-13-11 07:56 PM

Very nice, you doing a full restore or just a fresh coat of paint?

Jaynvona 11-13-11 08:37 PM

The car had bad clear on the passenger side front fender and the front air dam was magenta colored. Looked like a botched repair. Once I started cleaning it up, it just got worse. Completely disassembled the front clip, doors, and removed the glass all the way around. Lots of stress cracks in the fiberglass and some shoddy Bondo work under the paint.

I stiffened the front air dam bottom with channel aluminum bent to the profile and will be adding stiffening rods to the sides as well.

The interior is 75% stripped right now. I have been buying parts at Picknpull as cars have arrived and scored a headliner in A1 shape along with some plastics. The original center stereo bezel was cracked so i fabricated a new center out of 1/4 plexi until I can find another factory center. Recarpeting behind seats and rear deck. Covered the spare tire well because the little donut spare will not keep my car off the ground if I had to use it.

The engine is still the 12a but was installed new just before I bought it. Mechanic doing the install new nothing about rotaries and had every feasible vacuum hose routed wrong. The nikki was half connected and that half was wrong as well. Trailered it home from SF, straightened out the vacuum lines, replaced the ACV and passed smog first time out.

All in all it has been a blast. Looking to get it back on the road soon. Somewhat disappointed in my paint job but it is my first and I am not really fond of this particular color so changing it again is probably in the future.

Figs 11-14-11 02:37 AM

Jeez haha yea sounds like it's been a lot of work to get where you're at. I don't mind the color, it'll stand out :) One thing I will say is if you need parts or anything try hitting up Jr, he's basically the part guru here. That an if you got a question more than likely he'll know the answer since he himself owns an fb

Jet-Lee 11-15-11 07:09 PM

Lexy seized up this afternoon. Was hoping till taxes for the rebuild. Guess not.

Fml.

Figs 11-15-11 07:56 PM

Lame :( you doing the rebuild yourself?

Figs 11-17-11 10:31 PM

Not fully sure who's still coming out Saturday but I'll be happy with the 5 maybes lol. See whoever makes it then
