Broken side seal....

Here it is. Why might this happen?
|
that's rotary for ya. :D poppin them seals like pringles.
|
interesting looking break, did it distort the groove it sits in?
Is it the approaching edge to the port? |
2 tips for long lasting motor.
1. Junk the rotary 2. Buy a SRT-4 |

wow...never heard of that happening! take a look at the iron's..does it have a deep groove the side seal might have hit a snag and cracked?
:AA: |
^^^^ I am going to go home and clean them better. They seemed fine with a quick look.

2) due to major detonation. Kinda what I figured. I do not recall hearing any detonation. Shit, dont know if it is something you can hear.I snbapped another one of the side seals pretty easly. They only had a few thousand miles on them. |
were they new? or spec'ed out?
:AA: |
he would rather wank the motor with used seals than buy it brand new :rlaugh:

:AA: The engine blew 100 miles into breakin the first time. Turned out to be a faulty oil pump. This was a fresh engine from a reputable company. No big. The same apex/ side ect seals where used for the rebuild. Yes they where used, but barley. |

Ha ha! Not this time. I came over the other night, fed you dogs some ribeye, and grabbed those new housing and that master rebuild kit you had just, "Laying around"..........Filipino style! |
i c...lol...warky got jacked!!!
:AA: |
only time i've seen a side seal break is due to an imbalance in the engine such as S4 rotor housing mixed with a S5 or 2 different compression rotors. it usually happens when half the motor is carrying the other half.
i would guess detonation could cause a side seal to break but it doesn't seem to be very common, usually the apex seals go first. the last cause is poor porting, but it doesn't appear that the side seal caught the edge of a port by the looks of it but check your irons and make sure the edges are chamfered on the closing edges and not ported too far out towards the intake runner. |
at this point, who cares!! its broken so replace it!!
|
^^^^^ lololololololol.....
