Thumbs down I see the forum has now become 100% sterilized

Tribute to Ice Mark is gone.

One more step in the sad short sighted decision making that started 3+ years ago sucking the color and personality our of this forum. So sad.

..you probably still play PONG..

With all due respect,Icemark's homage has been up for longer than 3 years(more like SEVEN) and since the world is ever changing it was felt that a brand new side of the Forum header surface to keep up with the times.
InternetBrands along with the Admin and Moderation staff are currently working on a New Forum Header so while it was nice that The Rx7Club honored such a Fine Member of it's community it was felt that we should eventually transition and keep up with the Changes of modernity.

Great idea.

So what next, tear down the Lincoln Memorial and build a Skate Board Park? Same logic.

But you know, knowing Mark as I did, I expect he probably would agree that his homage be taken down. But for far different reasons than to to "keep up with the Changes of Modernity".

Such a company man. The lights in this place have been allowed to grow so dim over the last few years, I guess it's hard to see what's what.

Isn't it past your bed time?

Drive well my friend.

There is only so much time that you can grieve over one person..then the time comes where you just have to move on.
Icemark was honored for 7 years..RIP..
Now it is time to let his soul rest...he will be remembered as his posts, replies, threads etc will never be deleted.
The whole Club realizes that they lost a great contributor..but the Forum was built by Everyone and not just this one man.
It's time to step up and let go..Maybe you could share your expertise and become a Contributor to help others?..

The owners opt to keep the Forum Fresh..not living in the past.,and since they Own it and you are a guest then you have the option of using the Site or not use the Site. They have the Status to change whatever they feel is necessary to keep a nice solid Membership base.,So putting up a new Modernized header is the way they felt to keep up.
Respectfully,If you are so concerned about Icemark and the Club Header then you can always contact InternetBrands and state your case.

..and I'll sleep when I'm dead....too much to do in this lifetime.

Common decency, all the great information populated throughout this form posted by Mark should be deleted as well.

I think you need a little perspective..... the rx7club forum has 189,324 members as of today. To expect a permanent banner for one individual is ludicrous.

We've all paid Mark the highest level of respect via the banner that was at the top of the forum for many years.

Perhaps you should consider paying your respects to Mark in your signature, which is on display every time you choose to post on this website and add to the spirit of the community.

The forum is only as good as we make it via our contributions. It seems that you're concerned about this, so I challenge *you* to help make this a better place. What do you have to say to that?

i agree it time to move on, the forum is already slowing down due to facebook groups we don't need the active remaining members to be fighting over something like this.

Kinda weird that the guy saying this place has been going downhill for 3+ years has only been here for 3 years. Meanwhile Mark has been gone since '09.

What do I have to say about that.

Sent you a PM with a very strong suggestion well worth considering.

And Natey, you don't read between the lines very well my friend.

If you feel so strongly about it, why not create a tribute thread for Icemark. Im sure the mods wouldnt have a problem making it a Sticky.

(between the lines reading powers ACTIVATED!)
Then, I'm guessing you are an old member but opened a new, different account for reasons unknown? Then used the new account to complain about something as trivial as a new banner? The whole club is sterile now. Forget that the rotary engine hasn't been in production for 15 years, the BANNER is killing everything!!

Lol that's not playing well.

Reading between the lines glasses need cleaning. Yes Sherlock, this a replacement account. But I'm impressed you believe I had the foresight back in October 2014 to open it just so I'd be able to take issue with this decision this week.

And I invite you to attend 7Stock. The time distance since last production doesn't seem to be a problem to enthusiasm.

As to the sticky Tribute thread, excellent idea.

EDIT: Parting comment to Natey. To practice what I preach in my signature, ignore button engaged. Bye bye.

Mark and I would get together at the event hotel after almost every 7Stock he attended (I believe the first was SevenStock4 or 5) along with a few other die hard members (including Ryan). I don't know if many know that Ryan was quite the accomplished photographer as well as the creator of Rx7club.com. Anyway, with a good flow of Beers we would trade ideas and brainstorm about how to make our wankle cars better and this forum better.

I remember one idea I came up with Mark jumped on right away. Have Classified/For Sale sub forums at a regional level. Started with a tread I started in this Western Forum as a test for forum reaction, and the rest is history.

I have fond memory of us trading ideas as we did our respective Turbo swaps to our S4 Verts. I daily drove my TurboVert every day until Gas got to $4 per gallon. But still drive it often, in fact been driving it all this week.

Mark was truly one of the primary pillars this forum was built on. So I take this forum and it's healthy value to our rotorhead community quite personal, and by default am NOT a fan of this decision at all.

Cut and paste, comments made in the Lounge when this notion to remove the Icemark Tribute from the forum header last year:

• Whoa that just ain't right. Some of us wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him. Hell he let me off the hook a few times and I respect that

• I’ve been here a while now and always wondered... Who was Icemark and what is the significance of the matrix guy?

• He was basically Google for RX-7's and would take the time to help someone out and 'hold their hand' as they went through a problem. And always very decent and treated you like you were there in person. He used the Matrix dude on his Avatar. And I didn't even know the guy, so that says something about him.

• its been a while...
if you have met him in person, he was one of the most humble, easy going guy...
imo, he didnt care for the car as much as he did for the community...
i am sure he would want us to “move on”... especially when new members have no idea who he is...

• The people who new Icemark won't forget. The people who don't.... no need for explanation.

• Icemark will be remembered. I think its ok for the forum to go on, but at the same time having that banner of his avatar served as a reminder to others that this is in fact a very special community with great people who are willing to help other strangers who share the same passion for rotary cars.

Everything I know about my own car (except from hands on experience) came from this forum. When I joined 11 years ago I knew nothing about working on cars, and now I know enough to work on my car. by myself. with confidence and not **** things up.

A big thanks to anyone who follows in his steps and helps others.

• Icemark was an electrical engineer (edit, he wasn’t but he was MECP certified MECP - home ) and offered rebuilds on everything you can think of that broke down on the RX-7's wiper switch rebuilds, climate controls, LED upgrades, HID's you name it. And to if I can recall he was to start on Rebuilding S5 OMP's. Let's not forget the massive FAQ in archives that got all of us guys out of the road.

Hi guys, I'm Aria from Washington, DC. Next month I'll be picking up a 1988 Turbo II from Southern California and driving it cross country. It's fully stock and has been garaged most of it's life. I'm really excited to finally be getting a rotary, and want to learn as much as possible in the meantime. I'll be sure to post some pictures once I've picked it up.

Icemark, who I'm sure many of you have had the pleasure to get help from, was my dad, and passed away a few years back. I'm keeping the love for RX-7s in the family, and look forward to becoming a part of the forum.

• Thank you, I see he is very much missed and super cool guy. Too bad I did not get the opportunity to know him. RIP Icemark.

And tribute thread to Mark Mildice, aka Icemark, when he passed is here:

https://www.rx7club.com/lounge-192/r...cemark-830891/

Yes, "the rx7club forum has 189,324 members as of today." Should be more, but I digress. Mark "Icemark" Mildice is a large reason why there are all those members. I suppose it was inevitable, but it really is a shame what I can only see as corporate short sighted decision making has finally come to play. I'm sure Mark's son Aria will be very disappointed by this decision. The only thumbs up I can see is they used Bernie's FB in the current Banner. I remember that car dating back to SS4 where even my wife was a fan. Those wheels are currently rolling on a my neighbors FB.

I wonder what they'll name the Skateboard Park where the Lincoln Memorial currently stands. LOL

Replacement account? Check. Reason for replacement account? Still unknown, which for me is a Red Flag.
Yes, I can see that you 86'd your original account around 2014, that doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to see the join date under your name in every post you make. I didnt say you MADE the account to snivel, I said you USED the new account for that crap. Maybe my glasses aren't the only ones needing cleaning.
And yeah, I went to a Sevenstock or two back in the day, sweating in the sun, looking at parked cars. I'd rather just stay home and drive Laguna Seca with the PCA guys then drive over the grapevine to park my car and look at other people's body kits.

You show, I'll go.

I gotta say though, this line:
"The time distance since last production doesn't seem to be a problem to enthusiasm."

..made be go I still have no idea what you're trying to say.
