Seriously? Auto playing ads?

I get and understand that we are blessed with having this forum to use for free, but really IB? Auto Playing ads at the VERY bottom where you can't pause them?? I'm sorry, but that just seems to be drawing the line, it's bad enough when you come on the site real quick without logging in to quickly look something up that all the ads BOG the internet browser enough to make it crash, how much longer before that happens when we are logged in and this community straight up stops and all the amazing information disappears? I get there are ad blockers, but this website isn't a business, you make no money off of us, so if we all use an ad blocker what's the point?

Firefox + AdBlockPlus = Never seen any ads at all on this site.

same, i get the need for ads but when they become so intrusive and bandwidth hungry then i simply stop using that website. IB already collects money from the seller companies on this website which should easily cover operating costs, so the ads are quite simply an annoyance factor and over the line solely for the profit margins.

when and if ABP fails to block, i doubt i'll ever be back.

The ads combined with the photobucket fiasco makes me wonder how long I'll stick around myself. Most of the good informative threads are all but destroyed from that mess.

I'm gonna make a thread so this is more visible.

As many of you already are aware, photobucket pretty much killed the automotive community car forums by disabling hotlinking. Someone developed an add-on that allows you to see these pictures.

chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...fegnfnflicjjgj
firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...-embedded-fix/

This actually DOES work, i’m really glad you found that little loophole

ACR_RX-7 09-29-17 03:39 PM

I had to verify for myself. It works for me as well.

I’m surprised so many people still browse forums on computers, but any such ad blocker available for mobile devices? Specifically iOS/Safari?

more like, im surprised as many people browse forums on their phones. i find it extremely annoying as i squint, expand, retract and fiddle with my phone like it's an annoying asian sex toy.

Every time I load it on my phone (granted I don't have adblocker on my phone yet) I keep getting force redirected to spam sites and malwares sites. No thanks, I'll use a PC. Also, it's easier for me to navigate on PC

For those of you using Chrome, I've been using Adblock & AdblockPro and I've never seen an ad on here. :dunno:

insightful 10-11-17 07:21 AM

don't worry, it's only a matter of time before the adblockers don't work and need updates.

I have this same issue on my phone. It is ridiculous. I would expect the admin of this site to have some sort of standards of user safety when it comes to advertisements...
