Deleted Posts and Threads

Another one tonight. Every deleted post or thread chips away at the integrity of the forum. It's bad business.

misterstyx69 03-04-16 11:08 PM

..and to which thread or post are you referring to?

Deleted threads and posts are done so with valid reason, not on a whim,so if they break forum policy they do not stay.

The bad feedback thread on FourtyOunce posted by tictakman. Deleting and modifying threads in the feedback forums completely undermines their purpose.

you mean this one that was Never deleted?

By the way,Even IF the guy IS or Was a Member of this Forum it has ZERO to do with any transactions done Outside of this Site.
Sure you can call the guy every name in the book and wish him ill will but the FORUM has nothing to do with any sales done outside the confines of this Site...Especially EBay...or that "100% satisfaction or your money back" site of Craigslist.

I am sure you have an Ebay account and are also a Member here.,as well as others,so if they conduct their business differently elsewhere but stick to policy ON HERE then there is nothing really that The Club can do.
The only thing that Members can do is read that Section and judge for themselves whether they want to deal with another member that may have unsavory business practices.

Sorry I missed any Posts or threads within 10 hours..
I was out LIVING...

The thread was deleted and restored. Good move.

My apologies as to the status of this matter as I look further and note that it was temporarily deleted with other posts.
Upon noticing another MOD immediately reposted it.
IT happens and this was one of the Few times it does happen.

The reason why it will be shown it that it Reflects upon Members being able to see who they can comfortably deal with.
I'm not saying that any parties involved are assumed non-reliable,it is up to the Other members to read the info supplied by the Thread and make their own decision for themselves.

Maybe..but It does not entail any replies by YOU in this section as your Critique is not warranted.
If you do not have a dog in this Fight then you can Observe and Learn..like everyone else.

To be clear, I don't know either member in the referenced feedback thread and don't really care about the ultimate conclusion. But deleting and modifying posts erodes utility, especially in a forum about transaction feedback.

styx, this is a discussion forum about cars we enjoy; we're all on the same team. Every post is not an attack against you, other members, or the forum. The defensiveness and snide commentary don't build community or encourage participation.

The thread was temporarily moved from site while an investigation was performed. There are sections of the forum in the background not available to the membership for such purposes--- threads are never (and cannot be, actually) completely deleted from existence.

On the one hand, the transaction occurred on eBay, and offsite linking isn't allowed on this forum. Ie, how can someone be a bad buyer or seller on the forum if they didn't buy or sell on this forum? There's a reason CL, eBay, etc links aren't allowed here.

However, both individuals are members on this forum, and the feedback section is there to serve a purpose. There are two sides to every story.

Another deciding factor is the still relatively new direction of minimizing additions/editing/deletions/censorships unless absolutely necessary.

The thread was hidden from view for maybe 12 hours, restored without any changes :icon_tup:
