Need at least 10 posts, apparently in the New Member section first. I know this is a few months late, but I've been a long time lurker and didn't realize this until recently. Hopefully other new members will see this note too.

PlanktonBB 10-11-18 02:58 PM

Yup, I think it was 3 post for a reply? 5 for a pm? 10 for buy/sell

KDR83 11-09-18 12:18 PM

Okay so it looks like the 10 posts is confirmed, looks like I better get friendly with some other new posters haha

Check out the FAQ and the link rxtasy3 posted above. It's not an error or malfunction. It's a feature.

Yeah I missed this too. I do think its kinda negative Nancy, I feel at least a non member should be able to see the classifieds. obviously not post.

Example: I was merely looking for housings and rotors on ebay, and wanted to check street price for these and come to find that the classifieds are completely hidden.

I own an rx-8 and am slowly building a REW block for a swap. I dont spend much time on here. Yet at least.

mmcintyre2 02-25-19 07:18 PM

That's how I feel. I would like to at least look at potential vehicles from people who know most about them prior to having to take time looking for somewhere to post.

For all concerned, the key things to remember about classified restrictions are:

1. The classified area is a privilege to forum members who are active in the community.
2. The current post restriction prevents scammers, abusers, outsiders from either dumping parts onto unwitting members or taking parts away from active members.
3. The forum is a community; it is important that both parties establish a rapport and have a sense of belonging; a member would know a specific part is passed down to another member who needed it.
4. Not being able to view the classifieds avoids its circumvention. The purpose of the classifieds are to link member buyers to member sellers. The forum is not a second-hand marketplace for the general public. That's what ebay and similar online outlets are for.
5. A simple way for a new member to gain trust and respect of other members, and reduce scammers from preying upon the forum membership is to impose a 10-post restriction.
6. If someone just wants to hit and run for parts then a punishment would be awarded according to the forum rules.

Thank you for the explanation. This is a unique feature that I have not yet experienced anywhere else and I find it very refreshing.

I was having the same problem. The logic behind it all makes sense though. Thanks for the explanation.

same here, tried to look into classified then found out need 10 posts to unlock.

Kevin Kastner 03-30-19 07:14 PM

Working toward that 10 post limit...

GenkiZenki 04-02-19 11:56 PM

Glad I saw this thread. Would’ve been waiting for replies without knowing what was going on. Lol

blazenfire 04-06-19 08:49 PM

Damn, glad I saw this thread. I remember a couple years ago browsin the classifieds, and almost bought an RX7 at that time.

RogersSteve 06-01-19 12:33 PM

Welp, that explains why I couldn't find them to save my life! 10 posts it is!

will7 06-21-19 02:28 AM

Same here.

1994R2SSM 06-28-19 01:48 PM

10 posts finally lol

Terrh 07-02-19 08:13 AM

Yup kinda silly

also silly that if you just scroll to the bottom of this and aren't paying attention you'll end up replying to a thread from 2005 about the rep point system that hasn't even existed in almost 15 years.

This thread isn't ten years old! Although it is still a fairly old thread.
The first post looks to be from approximately one year ago, May 2018, if i've read it correctly.

For those that Terrh are referring to though, make sure you scroll back up and find Gen2n3 's post on the reason why.

I'm curious, even though its totally useless information, but does anyone know when the post requirement was implemented? ( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ

Gen2n3 07-04-19 09:24 AM

Thread closed. This topic ran its course. The reasons for 10-post restrictions were explained in Post 10.
