Calling all MODs! (lol) New Members asking the SAME questions over and over.....

Moderators,

I am sure that many of you are also tired of new nembers asking the SAME questions over and over.....It's been a while since I activated my account so my memory may be failing me and this may already be set up. In which case feel free to embarrass me!.

Is there any way we can set up an automated PM that gets sent to every new member that registers? Just to clearly remind them that they need a minimum post count to access certain areas and that they SHOULD read the new member section information?

I (and I am sure many of you) feel like a broken record on this topic.

Also, last thing we want is people providing short/rude answers to these annoying questions when we want new member to feel welcome.

Just my 2c - feel free to delete this (I won't be offended )

Thanks! Tom

they're the same problems every forum has and have been going on here since the forum existed, sending someone an automated PM won't fix anything because it's going to get filed just like everything else. there's big flags all over the forum already that get ignored.

I agree. Being a member of other forums in the past and a new one here (for posts anyway) I fully understand the frustrations with multiple posts asking similar questions. I would say the majority are due to truly being new to a forum setting and not knowing how to properly search, but some are simply just trying to get enough posts so they can access other sections. Any forum requiring minimum posts to access anything else will naturally see multiple similar posts from new users until they can access the content they want.

Also mainly cause some people just don't want to take the time to look it up and do the search. Never know, they could find something else helpful during the search

If you guys think its a big issue on here, I'm impressed. You should see the SRT Forums (where I come from). It's a hot mess, every other post is "what oil should I use?" and "what's the biggest tire I can run on stock suspension?" Plus it's full of scammers.

More the Merrier

It is encouraging to see the steady stream of new posters joining. It would be interesting to know how many the minimum posting rules discourage from becoming regular participants. Given the social media induced short attention spans and the migration of people to more mercurial platforms, perhaps easier access for new posters is now in order.
