Goopy Apex Seals

We have these in stock and ready to ship. Offering free shipping for Rx7club members.
We've already used these on several engines and they work very well. Good compression numbers and haven't been able to break one yet. Great for a turbo build.

How much do they weigh per seal?

GoodfellaFD3S 08-29-11 11:27 PM

What's the highest mileage you've seen out of a set? What benefits do they offer over ALS and/or RA super seals? Just curious..... we haven't built an engine with them yet.

teddyrx2 08-30-11 01:52 AM

thats a nice price on those seals...

Goopy is still fairly new to the market(mainly because they refuse to pay to advertise) but they have been around for years, i only have one test motor out on the road so far with their seals but will find out in a few weeks when we put the car on the rollers as to what to expect from them. so far no real complaints from the customer in the 6 months since i built the full bridged/pinned S5 TII w/GT3571R.

but they claim to have a 13B pushing 1086WHP with their seals and have had more than a few customers detonate and break irons while the seals survived, so far i haven't seen anyone complain about chrome gouging/scarring so time will tell.

i built this one about as bulletproof as i could manage without extensive work so hopefully it will last about 50k+ miles @ 500WHP, the previous motor lasted about 30k at the same level with OEM seals when a fouled injector took out the front rotor/housing.

I've got one near 10k, and done 6 engines so far with the seals, both Rx-7 and Rx-8. I am impressed so far. I have these in our half bridge GT42 FD, and I plan on finding the limits( shoot for around 40psi). These guys have been producing seals, and building rotaries for a quite a long time. They are comparable to ALS, I've built/tuned quite a few of those too, as I also sell/install those..

I just personally tested an engine with the goopy seals, and rotor housing resurface @ 5000 miles. It has stellar compression numbers. I also have another engine nearing 15k built the same way, still running great( according to the owner)..

A customer's Rx-8 engine surviving a 35psi spike while tuning with Goopy Apex Seals..

I'm running these in my daily rx8 and im about to put these in my 20b too they make ridiculous compression. I use to work for mazda and I never saw anything that fired up as easliy and that include brand new rx8's.

Turblown 02-11-12 12:33 PM

Bump!

S5fc3S 02-25-12 11:34 PM

I have some goopy seals with resurfaced housings. And about 6000miles on it and damn. It starts up all the time. Everything i build my motor with i got from goopy. Got to love them.

gear_grinder 02-26-12 08:10 PM

anyone used these in combination with their rotor housing resurfacing option? i'm keen to see what kind of comp numbers you can get out of a fresh surface on the housing that seems the most problematic IMO

cfamilyfix 02-27-12 11:58 AM

Hit up djchiptoothfc...he runs goopy seals on resurfaced housings with like 12lbs of boost or so. I just spoke in person with him and no complaints

I've done quite a few engines this way, one has over 12k miles on it. Daily driven T2... Compression numbers are always stellar.

audoetuk 09-19-12 11:53 PM

Well, guess I'm goin w/ goopy, ill use ceramics in my 3rotor when I'm rich & famous

Turblown 10-04-12 09:15 PM

All the engines we've built with the goopy seals/resurfaced housings are running strong, several past the 25k mile range now..

JWteknix 10-04-12 09:20 PM

Awsome

RotaryEvolution 10-04-12 10:37 PM

they definitely work, we have almost a dozen cars i built running them now. street driven and well abused, haven't seen one break or bend yet.

i believe their new record is over 1200WHP from a 13B engine on their seals now.

7dust 10-05-12 11:22 AM

Which springs are you using with these?

RotaryEvolution 10-05-12 01:07 PM

Oem

Tem120 08-21-13 03:19 PM

So any updates ? any discoveries ? any downfalls to these seals ?

I'm on the verge of purchasing seals and these are very high on my list.

em55ron 08-21-13 08:11 PM

2k+ miles so far. Dynod 550@12psi. So far So good!

bumpstart 08-21-13 08:17 PM

only downfall is that in oz.. the seem to insist on pushing through one dealer.. with huge markup // previously i bought them direct..and love them..
i have pushed several potential customers there for ALL of them to baulk at the local price mark up .. and refusal from the master company to now deal with australian purchases

very disappointed with this ..especially considering i helped in fitting the first examples here and did promote them a little ...
i am hoping jack or john will see this and realize they have lost trade in australia by dealing with VIS and are knocking back the enthusiast trying to bypass a rort and its doing them bad things here

silverfdturbo6port 08-21-13 08:34 PM

Yea im switching from RA classics to Goopys. Ive never had a problem with the Ra classics but they are not as friendly as goopys.
