PM 20B10AE on this forum. He has those on his car and I am pretty sure he can help you out with finding a set for your car. That would probably be your best bet.

bugeyes...

I think fixed headlights would look great on an FC if they could make them exactly the same size as the original headlight covers... and were smooth glass, without cutting into the bumper, or making them pop out like the ones in the picture, or sink in. It would like sort of Murcielago-ish that way...

But personally I think the smooth look flip-ups give when they're closed is too good to get rid of them.

/\/\/\/\/\ thats not possible with a off-the-shelf round housing light. you would need to use a flat/long/rectangular housing HID lamp to be able to clear the front bumper without cutting it and not raise any part of the lights above the stock bodylines.

it is possible though, just not inexpensively as HID's in the rectangular shape are more money than the common round housing.

I agree it would look better and if I had the funds I would do the rectangular HID light setup myself, all DIY.

Valkyrie 02-24-06 03:31 PM

Yeah, I know... but it would still look better.

Plus, if you're not gonna get HID's, what is the point of fixed headlights? That's just being half-assed...

DragonRx7 02-24-06 03:50 PM

Better aerodynamics? Cut out the weight of the headlight motors and linkage assembly? How is it half assed? Doesn't have to have HIDs to be an improvement.

Valkyrie 02-24-06 04:10 PM

Well technically you shouldn't be racing any time you need the headlights, so I fail to see a great improvement...

It's just my personal opinion that anyone who isn't going to a full HID kit is wasting their time butchering their car :p

Doesn't mean I'm right... I just don't like them much, and think if you're gonna lose the flip ups, you should at least gain 3X the light back...

DragonRx7 02-24-06 04:18 PM

If you can better direct the light coming out in a more precise area (like most round projectors can) then even with the same amount of light produced as the stock (light just kinda floods around the area), then it'll still look brighter, from a drivers point of view. And it seems that alot of those setups could be upgraded to full HID later on if the owner so wanted to.

Those headlights would have inferior aerodynamics compared to closed stock headlights, so unless you drive more at night than during the day, on average aero is probably worse...

And I totally agree with the earlier bugeye comment. Whatever aggressiveness the stock front end might have had is completely gone, replaced with a slightly comical look...

Hypertek 01-25-08 09:38 PM

on the subject of headlights, i wanna see someone do some celica head lights or something.. I know it sounds ricey, it was the craze back in 01-02 import scene to do headlight conversion from different cars... But it could be tasteful, i know i remember seeing a few NSXs with it and it was clean.

I guess I should've specified I was talking about fixed headlights in general, not necessarily the East Bears. Even the CPRacing lights follow the general shape of the front end.
As soon I get some more money I'll be working on my sleeks. Similar to the CPRacing but smaller and less weird looking. I'll be using one Hella Bi-Xenon in each one. Should be good.

hey did you ever find those head lights?

Price?
How many people do you need for a group buy?
What lights would have to be sourced to work with them?

I'll be using E11 marked 90mm driving lights. I have them on my FD. Light source is very good. But if you want to use your own lights is fine too. If 10 or more people is enough for me to start this.
