Description

Custom machined 2 inch round Delrin shift knob. This is a direct fit/replacement for the stock threaded shift knob and will not rattle like many universal knobs do. The hole extends as deep as possible to give you the lowest possible installed height.

For decades the round ball knobs have been the most popular style due to their comfort and style. Delrin is an ideal material for this application due to it's superior strength/weight ratio and low thermal conductivity.

As you can see in the picture, we leave the faint tooling marks. This provides a little more texture, making it less likely for you hand to slip when sweaty and shifting hard.

My favorite thing about these knobs is they quickly match your body temperature, making them very comfortable to hold and unlike one of my previous shift knobs, no third degree burns in the summer.

Do these fit all Mazda vehicles?

I only have two sizes listed for Mazda vehicles in our application guide, but it is still missing some vehicles. If you let me know the vehicle I will look it up and confirm the size for your application.

I'm glad to hear you are happy with the knob so far. I'm a huge fan of them personally. I love the sphere shape for comfort, but was sick of burning my hand on my chrome one in the summer.

Should also post in here, got my knob a while back, excellent product! Though a bigger size would be awesome (I've got big hands).

I should also mention that the S4 knob also fit the GSL-SE first gens so you can add that to your fitment.

Yeah, I have a round bubble knob that is about the same size left over from my corolla but the thread pitch is just a little bit off. Only issue I'm having right now is that I turned it until it started to snug up but when I'm shifting I can feel the knob rotate, is it ok to go a little past snug so it's not moving around on me when I'm driving?

I've noticed mine does this as well, I believe it's likely due to the delrin being a bit softer than the usual metal inserts, which might be a better option for future knobs.

I would also like to note that the bolts supplied for the FB Delrin Motor Mounts are only just long enough to get the nut entirely on and through the nylon locker, it would be nice to have another 1/2" or so to possibly put on another nut for peace of mind.

The knobs should be threaded on as hard as you can by hand. The threads actually have a slight taper, so the more you tighten the knob the tighter it will get. You will have a very hard time tearing the threads out by hand, the material is much stronger then most people expect. It will take a little over 300 ft lbs to tear the threads out. In a few cases (mostly on vintage cars) we've found that the threads on the shifter are slightly worn. A little teflon tape will take up the slack.

I'll make a note of that for when we order more hardware. The nylon locknuts will ensure the nut will not back off. On the rotaries the only thing to make sure is that the nuts are facing the ground. Not only is this the safer method, but it ensures the heat from the header will not melt the nylon.

I took your word for it and cranked the damn thing on there and now it's solid as a rock :icon_tup:

Technically yes as they are done on a manual lathe. We designed a custom tool to do these knobs, although we are planning to tool up a cnc lathe eventually to do these as well as many other designs.

Pardon the lack of shift boot and other stuff but here's mine on a GSL-SE.

The delrin knobs are around 82 grams. We are working on a line of heavier ones, but at this time I'n not sure when they will be ready.

Umm idk the thread pattern on the 1st gen non gsl-se's but if fou started making it in that thread pattern you would probably get more 1st gen guys to buy em.. Cuz i kno i would haha

From what I could find SA's (79-80) are M10x1.25 and then all the FBs GSL-SE included (81-85) are the same as the S4s which is the M12x1.5

I have found the same thing, although I still haven't been able to personally test fit the various years to confirm.
