what are the going prices of LS motors these days?

Well i might have found an exceptional deal on an 07 ls7 with trans, and an ls1 with ecu and harness, all accesories together. So i might buy them and sell of the LS1. what can i expect to get for it? Runs good, out of an 01 camaro, with about 100k on the clock. Also what is an expected worth of the 07 ls7 with trans ecu and harness? just want to make sure this is a good deal. i might have to convert one of my 7s to the dark side ls7...

Once u got to the darkside u never come back! Ive done several LS swaps and buy and sell LS motors often. The LS1 u should get $1200-1300 quick and the LS7 $5000+ easy more if it comes with a t56. Those are realistc prices not like some guys waiting $2000 for LS1s and they never sell. I just sold a 500hp built ls6 eagle rods, balanced crank, comp cam, 243 worked heads, roller rockers, all arp bolts, etc for $1800 and it took 2 weeks to sell it.

lovespeed 11-21-11 06:12 PM

1200-1300? I've never seen those prices. I've always seen 2500 and up.

PUMP GAS 7 11-21-11 06:15 PM

a ls7 is worth 5k for motor alone.

Supernaut 11-22-11 11:58 AM

An LS2 (t56 + harness, ECU etc.) can be had for around 6k.

shaved93 11-23-11 11:27 AM

$2500 is what they go for around here as well.

Onisamu 12-13-11 03:48 PM

Got mine for $4500, LS1 out of 2002 Camaro with approx 55k miles and came with the T56.

Smitty, if you sell LS1s for that cheap here in central florida please pm me your contact info, I'd like to purchase an engine from you.

go on ls1tech.com and you'll find some LS1's and t56's here and there. Usually going for about 1300-2k

need300z 02-23-12 08:26 AM

Those aren't bad prices I thought they would be more.

LS2's are around 6000-7500 with T56, harness, computer, and pedal with low miles.

need2speed94 04-11-12 04:31 AM

I picked up an LS1 with the harness and everything for $1900. 60,xxx mile motor that was from a 00' Z/28. They aren't as expensive as a lot of people think they are. Best bet, check ls1tech as stated before, as well as ls1lt1.com, ls1.com, you get the idea.

<100,000 mile plug & play motor shouldn't be more than $2000 unless it's VERY low mileage.. but that gets more rare on the daily

>100,000 mile plug & play motor (especially ones that aren't rebuilt) should definitely be less than $2000

*01-04 LS1's are going to be a bit more expensive generally... They had LS6 intakes, better flowing heads/manifolds (not by much), a better PCM (can't remember why???), and no EGR.

If LS1 T56 combos can be had for under $2000 a TII swap on my car seems almost pointless. I know the total cost of the LS swap will be more but by the time a person buys a JSPEC eng/trans combo and rebuilds it. Probably not by much. I've been kicking around an LS swap when my motor bites the dust but what people ask on ebay for these motors just make it too exspensive.

Pardon my ignorance but is the LS7 in the camaro of the same output spec as the Z06 Corvette?

Thought the motor in the Camaro was an LS3? I know they had limited runs of the L28/427 etc Camaros but didn't know they went into full production.

digitalsolo 09-08-12 07:50 PM

LS7 is in the Z06 Corvette, only.

There are various engines in the other Corvettes and Camaros depending on your transmission or model. There are no factory production 427 5th Generation Camaros.

I bought my LS2 last year with T56, harness, ecu, pedal, and 33,xxx for $6400.

Just picked up a pretty bare LQ4 today for $400, unkown miles but very clean under to covers.

Ruler_Mark 10-09-12 02:51 PM

I got a ls2 with t56 pullout from a 06 gto with 11k on the clock for 7k few years back. I got a ls3 longblock with cam and ported heads for 5k last year. You just need to search around. EASIEST thing to do is call a performance shop or tuner and ask if they have any laying around. Thats how I've gotten my good deals.

I agree. Speed1 actually ended up sourcing my motor from a vette specialist and they even gave me a warranty on it.

Cosmo_TT 10-11-12 12:46 AM

I can get ls1, tranny and ecu for 2595-2995 and ls2, tranny and ecu for 4200-4600... You guys paying 6-7k are crazy and I am talking under 60k miles

Bad Chad 10-19-12 05:25 PM

I agree, you can find deals if you look. 2 years ago I picked up a LS3 that the bolt on the can gear broke and bent all the valves. I pain 900 for the motor.

dvo 10-24-12 02:35 PM

got my motor from a 2001 ss camaro for 3800. (motor, tranny, harness, ecu). The guy let me hear it run and idle before he pulled it out.

AWD-RWD racer 10-24-12 05:20 PM

i paid 4k for my ls1 4 years ago. it came with a t56, ls6 intake manifold, and jtr long tube headers
