On the topic of weight, I would bet that my nearly stock 5.3 has better power to weight ratio than my old 12a had. I wish I could weight the complete longblock before I stick it back in soon.

Has any one ever corner weighted a standard FD, a single turbo FD and a v8 swapped FD? There is a v8 swapped FD for sale for £11.5k really tempted by it, just short of 500 HP and torque. It would cost much more than that for a single turbo setup for same power including buying a car.

I had these coilovers on a mostly stock 93 rx7, same wheel/tire it was slightly tucking the tire... on my stripped 93 with ls3 it did this.. :(

Hmm looks like it could weigh less at the back. What about the front? It could have been that high at the rear because of these so called boat anchors on the front? ;) the v8 section has got to be the best at the moment for crazy builds!!

Not quite. It's not only about weight but of center of gravity. The majority of the weight on the rotary sits pretty damn low. Also, you're comparing apples to oranges. If you want to compare the two, do it with a rotary car that is modified, not one that is stock. The rotary car still has emissions and PS/AC.

^ I see your point, but its still a difference of almost 60lbs lighter up front with the v8, which isnt that bad, and I've seen modified motor mounts that allowed the Ls motor to sit lower in the engine bay. I'm not a rotary hater, i enjoy it very much and i've still got one in my fd, my fd is completely stock so im seriously considering not doing anything to it and keeping it original, i am however going to get a second fd when i get home from deployment, and it will be getting a v8.

Yank rotary, drop in LSx, keeping p/s and a/c, you will add weight to the front.
Every magazine-measured weight for the FD I've ever seen had it at 50/50 empty, 48/52 with driver and fuel. My LS2 FD with ps/ac weighed in at 51/49 with half a tank, 50.0/50.0 with driver and half tank of fuel. 2% more weight on the front wheels vs. stock.
The linked figures giving 53/47 for the stock weight distribution (with a nearly full tank!) don't jibe with any measurements I've ever seen for a stock FD.
