SA / T5 speedometer cable

Has anyone adapted the SA speedometer cable to the t5 transmission? Or has anyone done something else to get the stock speedometer to work with the t5?

Definitely wondering what everyone has come up with. I'll be doing a T56 Magnum to a FB cluster.

I know there are companies that will make custom cables but I was wondering if anyone had first hand experience with doing the cable.

Well for what it's worth a mid 80's mustang without cruise control cable works fine . You need to modify the end that goes to the speedometer head but its simple . You just need to cut a little slot in the barrel end with a dremel and use the barbed clip from the Mazda.

Google/eBay is your friend.

One option:

You need this at the transmission - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Transmissio...wAAOSwud1XAq8P

Then you need a custom speedometer cable and housing that has the Mazda upper and a GM lower (7/8" nut). The GM lower will screw on to the Ford adapter linked to above.

OR - have a custom cable and housing made that has a Mazda upper and a Ford lower for a non-cruise application

I used to run a speedo-shop and we made stuff like this all the time. Do a Google search for a Speedometer shop and give them a call.

Wink speedometer cable

Yes I guess that adapter would work but the adapter is $44.00 plus the GM cable. I bought a ford mustang cable on Rock for $15.00 and spent 10 mins. with the dremel and it eliminates the $44.00 adapter which really don't add anything to the adaption except the screw on cable at the transmission. But I guess that's why ice cream comes in different flavors. The Mazda speedo fitting is the same as the Ford, at least on my SA. There is just a difference where the plastic barb is positioned on the cable end. If you have both cables and put them side by side the alteration to the cable is obvious and easy.
