Pics of my current winter project
Dropped it in tonight for a test fit. A few things I need to do before I can bolt it in:
-Slot the engine cradle a tad to make lining the engine mounts up easier. -Relocate the HUGE Racing Beat swaybar down to clear the oil pan. -Remove stock exhaust manifolds -Check tranny tunnel clearance Once I take care of those few odds and ends, I can bolt it in and start working on the easy stuff. WHEEE!!! http://www.team140.com/lt110ae/P1010009_resize.JPG http://www.team140.com/lt110ae/P1010010_resize.JPG http://www.team140.com/lt110ae/P1010011_resize.JPG http://www.team140.com/lt110ae/P1010012_resize.JPG Yes, it's an LT1. Yes, it's a 6 speed. Yes, it's a 10th Anniversary. Yes, it will be fast :) Excuse me while I go and have a flame suit tailored for me. :) |
Screw the flamers, that is awesome. I'd shake your hand if I met you in person. :bigthumb:
|
I was wondering why I saw a leveler when the pictures were loading.
|
It looks like ur old FMIC is still in there, hmmmmmm, had another one blow on you eh? I've got about two rebuilds left in me before I drop a V8 in my FC once and for all.
|
the first picture makes your headers look like a custom exhaust job (exhasut out of fender)
very nice, what tranny you putting behind that? |
88Integra - Yes. I've had one too many rotaries pop on me. This one popped a week and one day after I bought it. (Dale Clark's old car)
It put down 371HP to the wheels though before it bit the dust. ls1hybrid - It's a 95 LT1/T56 combo. Should be good for 0% traction until I go wodebody. :) |
grannys kit?
|
Haha, I've got a 327 waiting for the day i get bored enough to do this. Thankfully I've yet to lose a rotary engine, although I'm sure I should have (17psi on a 180k mile high compression engine, shouldn't live THAT long should it!?). Should make for an interesting show at the drag track when people expect a fairly slow import .
|
Nice, indeed.
I noticed a conspicuous lack of flamage here- Are we getting soft on this here forum? :D |
No, people have just finally started popping engines and understand peoples frustrations at times when they have an excessive string of bad luck. :)
|
i think a v8 conversion would be kinda cool.... not for me. ill stick with rotary. but go for it. it looks cool and will be fast as hell
|
Yeah no suprise mine popped huh sonicrat? oh well i told u it was all temporary. maybe its time for a V8! or not, i got RA seals. lil bit cheaper than a lt1.
|
I was amazed yours made it so long, with how ghetto-fabulous half of the setup was, I really thought it was going to be short-lived, was hard to figure out WTF that car was wanting to do since most of the wiring was replaced/changed/etc.
|
We are getting soft.
I think the first thing that I thought about once I saw the TB and noticed it was a V8 was.. "I wonder what that thing is gonna sound like at the lights?" damn, must sound very interesting to a guy beside him who knows thats no normal import ;) |
Thanks for the kudos guys!
I'm tempted to keep it import looking as much as I can. I wonder how the LT1 will sound through the N1 GT-Spec? |

Only complaints so far: Needs a better cradle design. The routing of the power steering hardlines through the cradle is a bitch and you have to tweak the lines here and there. I would also slot the engine cradle and supply engine mounts with studs sticking out. Trying to manhandle an engine on a hoist and lining up the holes in the cradle with the threads in the engine mounts is ridiculous. Slot them horizontally and provide engine mounts with studs! You're done! Other than that, it's been pretty straight forward. They didn't mention you have to remove the steering rack though! I didn't have to totally remove it, but just remove all the brackets and pick it up a bit as part of the kit had to go under the steering input shaft. Bolted down, there was NO room for it to fit. |

I respect D. Clark; but I never liked his upgrading methods :( |
A 10th... you son of a bitch!! ;)
|
That is excellent. :) Very nice....keep us posted.
Crusty is LS1-bound, and I've got my eye on another 10AE shell to do the same to..... muhaha. |
I love it! Exactly what I am going to do except LS1 instead of LT1...

just finally found the right car to do it on... being in college kinda cuts back on fun time in making most of the rx-7 community hate you for throwing away the "soul" of the car :rlaugh: |
Wow, this is great no flammage...Already saw your car on torquecentral...very nice
|
Dale's car deserves better than a V8 swap. Sorry, Ive just known the car for about 4 years now and all the hell its gone through and accomplished. To each his own.... However I've never ridden in a V8 that goes like a 20B. Its a 10th anny I'd just rather see it with it's own blood type, not 1 out of 1500 gone to the darkside.
