Ok so I got took pretty bad by a guy in a trade. That we can all see. But I have a wrecked cutlus with a 350 and 700R4. Its been sitting for 2 years but Im sure its still a good motor and trans. I have to do this swap VERY CHEAP!!!! im a single father and there is no way im going to be able to get rid of this heep with it like this. But if for cheap I can swap in that 350 then I can have the car I want and something that wont brake down.

Guys I know that most of yall have FI bad a** swaped cars. But yall must be able to help this poor guy out. I really really need help.

hey man im not for non rotary swaps into rotary vehicles but..... I understand your situation and really man it is your car. you have do to do what you can. keep in mind man cars are great and all but its not as important as financial security for your family.

And thats where I am. I got took on a car deal with my only car and now this is the only way im going to have a car again... I want to use as much of the stock stuff as I can.

You'll spend a lot more doing a swap than just rebuilding the existing motor.

^^^This is true.

There is a lot more to a v8 or piston swap then most people think. It's not just a matter of dropping the motor in and going.

If your wanting a reliable street car its to require spending some money. You have to think about the mount kit, cooling, driveshaft, exhaust, clutch, wiring, etc... The mounting kit alone will cost you $400.

I'm probably not exact on the numbers, but rebuild would cost what, about $1000 if you did it youself, and about $2000 if you pay somebody to do it.

If your going to do a swap it shouldn't be for more reliability, it should be for more reliable power (and better gas mileage).

It sounds like you are looking for a car that you can count on, while you can make a v8 rx7 'that car', it's going to require more time, effort and money then it sounds like your willing to put in at the moment.

Don't dig yourself a deeper hole, it doesn't sound like your ready for a big project like a v8 swap. If you want a reliable car again with little time and effort, rebuild the N/A rotary, or buy another car.

Now maybe I'm completely wrong and you really do want to do a v8 swap and have the time, money, and resources to do it, then sign up on V8RX7FORUM, and start researching it.

Whatever you do good luck!

You can do it. Find a fabricator and get him to weld you in some motor mounts for a case of beer. Reuse stock radiator, stock fuel pump, get a C4 DS, and get creative with your shifter. It won't be the prettiest thing and but it'll get you down the road for a few hundred bucks <$500. Ya... I've done it. If you're not going for crazy HP, you'll be fine. As soon as you start modding the motor, you'll need to up grade your cooling and fuel.

I'm still not convinced that you're as far up shit creek as you think.
Over the three years I've owned my NA it's done things that if described on the forum would have everyone telling me it's dead, yet she still runs like a top.

There have periods when it'd lay down obnoxious smokescreens and then just stop smoking altogether.
It's guzzled oil then gotten frugal with no explanation.

The NA is a pretty tough engine IMO and you may have more time to decide than you think.

The man knows whereof he speaks.
He is the originator of some of the nicest builds on the darkside forum.
