meh its not a drag car, i have plenty of fast friends to keep the drag queens humbled down, i might run it a few times...but then i have to clean all the rubber off the bottom and its annoying
|
dont get me wrong im not chicken to drive it, though im not fond of rain because it gets it all dirty...but its on radials it can be driven safely, just no AC so kinda hot in FL and windshield likes to fog up....but the strip is different, the rubber+VHT is a mess on the car and difficult to clean, i still have a few berries stuck to the car im afraid to get serious with, dont wanna mess up the paint....that and i have some speckles of white shoe polish on my fender from numbers being put on my window i have yet to be able to remove...if anyone has a solution let me know, because i have tried just about every paint safe method i know....its aggravating as hell...shoe polish near my 7 now comes with an ass beating :)

nothing left to show during the ugly and boring wiring process...so stay tuned for the start up videos, good or bad i will post them, if something goes wrong a report will be filed accordingly

I Hear You
If I had your car I wouldn't want to thrash it, or abuse it either, all that hard work. I wish I could build an RX7 like that, you have great skills man :icon_tup:. Looking forward to some video .

for those who have not seen the insides of it, this is my total black interior conversion with silver and grey trim, silver faced gauges that glow blue, this time around i added a wideband gauge from PLX to match my controller, other than that, its pretty simple and understated like the rest of it. sadly the previous owner drilled a hole in the perfect dash to mount a ricer tach, so what i did was mount a low profile shift light in its place, filling the hole and not looking too terrible. |
Excellent!!
Damn you are killing it!!
Looks great, everything fits like a glove. |
i hated that maroon with a passion...i should have done a build log on the interior, it came out pretty good and has proven pretty durable with just some minor consideration taken during use, most of the plastic and vinyl is painted, but it was prepared and painted properly, you can scratch through it if you do it on purpose, but short of dragging hard or sharp object across it, its on there for good.
i stripped the door panels down to the flat cardboard backing, upholstered them into flat panels and used SA door pulls donated by a good friend of mine, i like the look better, and was way easier than making the stock panel black, with all the trim and carpet that is on them. its not a "show" car, its has some flaws i kind of live with, it is pretty nice for a budget re-do and still stock-ish simple. I want to add a cage...for obvious reasons... |
Ha ha! Maroon is the only interior color Mazda should have not used in the RX7's. Are making a custom cage? CAD?

as for cage...i want an autopower bolt in, but i might make my own to bolt in, i want to be able to remove it to work if needed, and its mainly for added chassis rigidity and slight accident protection.really just want a 6 point with no overhead loop, they are more dangerous than not if you are not wearing a helmet, that overhead bar across the window will split your head open like a walnut |
Ha ha! I forgot about those colors.
Ok, I though it was just me that thought those overhead bars would be dangerous in the event of an accident. I'm 6',2" and I have a convertable that I am thinking about installing an AutoPower cage for track events. And for me, the helmet would most likely be resting on those overhead bars in a regular driving position. I'll cross that bridge when and if I decide to install a full roll cage. I might just by an S4 for track use only and have a custom full roll cage built. |
The build looks great the car has came far since you've owned it. Very close to start this bad boy on.

Nice!!!
|
Awesome!! Looks and sounds excellent!

just putting some finishing touches on it before tuning, i still need to construct some sort of crankcase vent system as well as a catch can for the fuel tank vent.
putting plates on it today so i can go get the front end aligned soon. |
hard to believe as this may sound...i got hit in the ass today in 7...with 15 miles on it....punk kid not paying attention in traffic slams into it, surprisingly little amount of apparent damage, but a lot of cumulative damage, and i think it hurt the engine as well...its only happened an hour ago so the full spectrum of damage is yet to come...i am...quite unamused with the whole thing.....it was running perfectly....for 15 miles...details to come but looks like DGRR is out for me, i cant afford any more work on the car now at this point and im worried about a sound the engine is making.
