I can't get enough of this build! Can't wait to see it running. What is a good suspension setup for these car once they have a v8 in them? I have not found to much in the aftermarket for suspension. Although I will admit I have not searched toooo hard on the subject.

I am by FAR not a suspension expert...i have alot of other people to thank for tips and tricks, one of my friends is mike at ISC racing, he can make these cars stick, but my set up is so far away from what he does he can really only give me tips, the only thing i did get from him was my springs 280 front and 150 rear, seems to be decent on the street, not soggy or bouncy, running KYB front inserts with tokico blue rear shocks, not many great choices for a gen1 without spending huge $$$ which i dont have...the only reason this car exists is my ability to make parts and my friends that trade work for my work...that and a good credit card which i have been exercising lately...i know...i know...once its running ill pay it back off

digitalsolo...the key to good fab is being able to weld over your screw ups and paint it before anyone sees hehehe thanks though, doing a mandrel job like this is so much the ability to visualize the shape in your head and guess the angles needed out of the bend and hope you get it right because each bend is 40 bucks and you can only make so many oops before you need another bend for a certain piece....its just careful guesswork really, makes for some interesting shop humor at times

i might add that putting the 245/50/15s out back required raising the rear which didnt ruin the handling...but it didnt exactly help it either...its sort of a trade off...i get a little more bite at the cost of a little more rear jacking around corners, but its only evident when you push it hard, and i dont risk running on the limit on the street with no room for error so its never really an issue, its not a time attack car, it handles well enough.

as for the v8 set up, my up front weight with this combo isnt going to change much so im not bothered to try and change anything unless something is really out of wack, i am however REALLY looking forward to the new rack and pinion steering, i took great sadistic joy in removing that stock steering.....wont ever miss it.

not much to really get into detail about right now, so just posting random pics as I go

the throttle body did require some modification since the TPS was incompatible with the tec3, and it wasnt a D shaft by default, so i made a D shaft to thread on the end of throttle shaft and coinciding adapter plate to fit the TPS that I was using on the rotary engine set up.
and I decided to put the IAT in the TB just to get it away from being directly over the hot pipe, and so i didnt have to put a big hole in my shiny charge pipe

Just found your thread. Looking good man. Also thank you for the link to your Lexus forum as I am migrating that direction. I recently just crashed then scrapped my LS1/T56/8.8 SA22c (or first gen rx7) then bought a Lexus SC400 which has your motor thanks for showing me there is hope in the new car. It was fun building the seven too.

Other than that your fab work is too notch. Keep the pics coming!

sorry to hear about your 7 the lexus engine has its...challenges...and i will soon know if it was worth it, but it sure is a neat engine.
the lextreme site is a very good source of info on this engine, i highly suggest careful reading on its capabilities and downfalls to avoid problems that could have otherwise been prevented.

getting closer....

^yeah so my new front tires are wider than my old tires despite being the same 205/50/15, thus creating yet another problem i have to solve...i dont wanna have to buy a different pair of tires but i dont have much option, i cant go out or they will hit the fenders, they were close before im afraid they might hit now anyway...dammit..

engine bay is 99.9% complete mechanically, primed the engine oil....and tightened that oil line i forgot
finishing up some stuff under the car, then it is time to run electrical and vacuum line and dump some fuel in it and light the fire!

hoping to have running very soon...

Awesome, so tight in there now.
Only thing that kind of sucks is how the cold pipe is right over the down pipe. Maybe put some reflective shielding over that pipe too?

yeah i know, but everything is well insulated , insulation around that pipe is under consideration, but my water injection nozzle is way down by the inlet of the turbo, it will pretty much take care of it under load, it will just be the traffic heat soak to worry about....i have a lot more insulation in the works that is not done or not installed yet.

and thank you its a lot of work....and not exactly...service friendly

and it should be pretty quiet too....relatively speaking of course....there is no way to make it still sound like a wankel so other 7 guys will notice as soon as they are within earshot, but other than that, it is almost totally concealed. the guys at the rotary meets will never know if i keep the hood down hehehehe

Yep. I say keep the hood closed and earn some money at your local drag strip. Most domestic enthusiaste think no matter what an import cannot beat their cars.
