LS2 into an FD

I've seen some killer deals on LS2's on some forums...i'm curious what it takes to get the ls2 into the FD compared to an LS1 and what the weight differences are between the LS1 and LS2. And should i use the T56 or the Tremec 6 speed?

Also what little things is it going to take. I'm pretty well up to speed on how to do the LS1 swap. Also can i use the LS1 ECU instead of the Ls2's because i don't want that Ls2 low octane tune or is it simple enough that i wouldn't have to worry about it. i figured i'd ask here before i went to TC.

Hey, I am doing this swap also in my 94 and am from jasper, not far from you. If I am in eville I am usually in my prowler. I havent seen any fd's in the area though. The ls2 throttle body is different and needs a cable for that. other than that there isnt a whole lot of difference. crank shaft sensor changed locations and lil things like that so you would need the ls2 ecu i think. feel free to email me at mazdasweetnos@yahoo.com and ill leave you my cell #

sweet...i'm the only modded FD in the area. Bugg1 on TC and King Ratass (i believe thats his name) and a few others are from evansville. But i'll shoot ya an email.

you can use an ls6 ecu with the ls2, you just loose a couple sensors, cant remember wich ones, i think a nock sensor is one of them, nothing really thats needed tho with a tuned ecu. im sure you can take the car to a decent shop and have a custom harness wired up no problem, ive got an ls2 block sitting in my carport, plan on building that up with low compression pistons, lightweight crank, and 3500-7000 rpm camshaft from gm performance, ill prolly throw a hailtech ecu in it cause im going to be running single turbo. cant wait to get that project off the ground, its in my daily driver, lol

Any LS1 F-Body harness will run an LS2, assuming you have one with the LS1 style reluctor wheel (varies by year). You will need knock sensor and cam sensor adapter harnesses, which are available from several vendors, not a big deal at all.

Aside from that, it's just an LSx swap, no biggie.
