aftermarket headers?

BBK headers for a Fox-Body 5.0 Mustang will work if you are capable of cutting off the mounting flanges and welding those primary tubes onto some LS1-specific flanges as well as changing the primary tubing from square-ish to round so it fits into the LS1 flanges. you can source the headers for under $250 and the flanges are another $30, so you can get longtubes on your LS1FC for under $300.

the bolt-on solution is from jags-that-run, as they sell longtubes that were designed for LS1FD conversions and they actually fit very well into LS1FC's. their prices are something like $600-$750 depending on if you order them coated or not.

Hinson offered some longtubes but I dont know if he ever finished the design and actually shipped any out, his were $1000 and maybe equal length too?

some shorty headers do fit without any or little clearancing, but I dont think thye offer much if any power gain over stock manifolds, but they do clean up the emissions stuff if you've removed that stuff.

I bought a 4"--->3.5" 90 degree elbow in hi-temp rubber from www.atpturbo.com for pretty cheap and run 3.5" piping to a K&N filter. you can get aluminum tubing from ebay or some speed shops. the K&N filter I sourced from their online store/vendor. to fit it in the fenderwell just go to the engine bay sheetmetal with a holesaw.

i was thinking about it and even if im unable to weld the mustang headers the ls1 flanges,it couldnt be that expensive.? though, would the 5.0 headers flow good enough considering the ls1 makes like,2 times the power.

i cant wait to get started.ill probably use grannys kit with radiator and driveline and hinson wireing harness.also, ive been haveing a hard time finding wide enough 16 or 17 inch wheels for a good price.lokking for 9.5 rears and 8 or 8.5 front.anything taller than that and the price of tires are rediculous

thanks again for info
