LS FD with CD009 and Ford 8.8 rear

Is anyone already running this setup on a FD by chance? I would like to know where you had the drive shaft custom made and how it's working out?

Be careful with which rear gear ratio you choose if you do this, the CD009 is geared very low. Any good driveshaft shop should be able to do this

Yes you will need to go to a Ford 8.8 rear with a 2.73 rear gear to make the car drive able.

A 2.73 final drive with the Cd009 is about equal to a 3.73 final drive with the T56.

Thanks for the info. At least it's a common ratio in a Ford 8.8 rear so it shouldn't be difficult or expensive to buy one.

Yes, exactly.

Oh wait the 3.73 and 3.55 is common in Ford Explorer rear not 2.73.

I just need to change the tire size and final gear to get the rpm and speed on this calculator correct? In this case the stock 370z 6speed transmission with final drive ratio from a Ford 8.8 (3.55 in my case) and 275/35/18 (what I plan on running).

Yes. You will need a 2.73, and will need to do a gear change to the Explorer rear end. You would have had to do this work anyway, as very few come with LSD carriers. The 2.73 rear gears are very common in 2011-2014 V6 Mustangs.

So get the cheapest open Explorer diff you can find with an open diff. Put in a fresh LSD diff and new gears.

This is why using the cd009 does not really save you much money in the end. The money you save needs to be put back into the rear end change.
