How Much Power to Run 10.9 (FD/v8)

What kind of boosted power would I need? N/A power?

cdk 4219 03-18-04 08:12 AM

This is a pretty vague question since there are a lot of variables to think about. I would guess about 400 to 430 to the wheels

You shouldn't need boost to do that. Heasd, cam, and tuning should put you in the 400-430 range. CDK is right though, there's too many variables. Are you a good driver, shitty dirver? Running drag radials or street tires? Slicks will likley break somthing with those power levels, so you'd have to beef up the back end.

Poke around torquecentral for answers to those questions. Not too many people are running in the 10s. Hinson is the only one that comes to mind has gone 10.0@135 or so on heads, cam, and spray.

Im talking with a good driver, slicks, and a strong rear end.

just put a B16B in there and you'll run them instantly

'01+ with LT headers, medium/large sized cam (upgrade valvetrain related parts too), ported TB, and cold air intake with PCM reprogramming and no other mods will make 400rwhp pretty easily.

Add some ported 5.3L heads and it should be around 440-460rwhp.

Should run high 10's N/A in a 3rd gen at 2900lbs.

hey
this is lowjack
5.3 wouldnt that lower the compresion ratio? and loose power? i thought that ls1 guys did that when they plan to boost their engines.

turbogarrett 03-20-04 05:44 PM

i think the 6.0 heads will lower compression, not the 5.3's?

WaachBack 03-21-04 03:41 AM

The 5.3's will raise compression...

blackkiller7 03-21-04 08:55 AM

oh ok got it mixed up thanks

Mine will run 10's if I put ET streets on it.

It has trapped 101 and 102mph in the 1/8th the last couple times to the local track. It usually picks up 30mph on the big end. That translates to around 131-132mph with stock heads and a ls1 intake. :)

My mod's listed in my sig.
