Headers to use with SBC FB?

Does anyone have any insight as to what headers fit a small block chevy swapped FB RX7? I see plenty of shorties available that appear like they will fit but I would rather buy once.

Searching was pretty scattered with results not quite pertaining to 1st gens.

Thanks for any help!

I had to buy 2 sets of shorties before I found a set that didn't require extensive "clearancing," you will curse that ancient sloppy steering box during your search for and installation of headers, now would be a good time to consider swapping over to rack and pinion steering.

R&P sounds like a good idea but it's just not in the plan nor in the budget.

http://www.grannysspeedshop.com/ used to sell headers for SBC swapped FB's I checked their website and can't find it listed anymore. Your best bet would be to email or call them and ask if they still offer them or at lest give you a tip on which off the shelf headers to buy, they are the RX-7 V8 swap specialists after all and also nice helpfull people. Another option would be to put out a WTB ad on the classifieds section of norotors.com, aside from finding a used set of grannies headers you may also be able to score a custom made long tube header. Lastly you can make your own, Patriot Exhaust H8001 Patriot Exhaust Lakester Weld-Up Header Kits It'll be a bit of work, but the product and the price would turn out well, the link and pic I put was just an example of a U-weld kit, there are many different types out there.

Remember, measure twice cut once :-)

I used block huggers on my fc. With that being said I also had to use a remote oil filter kit however at the end of the day... It was the best result. Not only did the oil filter relocation kit provide me room for my exhaust but it made the header purchase fairly cheap only putting me behind 150 bucks. And with that being said summit racing has a good return policy. I went thru 4 sets of headers before going to block huggers.

The guy who built mine used headman headers, with custom center piece with bong & Y-pipe to dual exhaust. The driver side goes down past front of oil pan and meets passenger side to a single collector. Sounds great too.

I know corvette headers from a C4 with the middle dump will work. They fit LT1s and I assume other SBC. No matter what the pipes have to join unless you modify the tank

i have my old longtubes still if you want to try and use the inlet side of shorties and the collectors of my old longtubes?

Dougs tri y headers for a 65 chevy II fit real good can damn near put the motor in with them on (and an empty tranny) oops . They are pricey but other shorty styles for that car might work, similar steering setups.

Anybody happen to have a specific part number for the tri-y longtubes that fit the 1st gen with sbc? At those prices I'd like to only buy them once ;-)
