Do I have the wrong one?

I have a 700r4 automatic going in my fc convertible. I bought the swap kit used, and the guy who had it before me was using a 700r4 as well. He says it fits. Some things that have me concerned:

1) the cross member has been modified to where the holes are elongated by what appears to have been a cutting torch.
2) the driveshaft is too short. It bolts up to the differential, it slides in the transmission easily. It won't do both at the same time. It's about an inch shy.

I thought the stock mount from the transmission would work, but it has a single stud coming down, and the cross member has 2 holes. I found a mount to solve this (anchor part #2268). It bolts to the transmission, it bolts to the cross member. I have slid the trans (using the elongated holes) as far forward as it will go, but it's still too short for the driveshaft.

Looking at the granny's website, it seems as if I'm supposed to maybe use the truss style cross member?

The engine is still at the machine shop getting worked over, so I figured I'd go ahead and start getting everything ready to take the engine. Plus, my little HF 1-ton cherry picker was having a hard time lifting the two together anyway. It also barely has the reach I need to get the motor in without the bumper on. So I don't have a frame of reference on whether the trans is too far back or not.

Any thoughts?

(clarification)

Is the 700r4 (or 4L60e) transmission mount from grannys speed shop supposed ro look like the one pictured above, or the one below?

The FC I have came with a 350 that had a T-5 attached to it and granny's mounts. It came with both types of trans mounts. The mount in the second post required you to drill holes in the floor to mount it and has been known to stretch the metal and even tear if it you have a "decent amount of power". Seriously, avoid using it at all costs. IIRC the rear of the engine will be ~1" or 1/2" from the firewall with the granny's engine mounts, so if you put your trans bell housing about there you should be able to get a good idea of where it'll all end up. granny's is known for sending the wrong parts and being a PITA to get a hold of.

The engine cradle fits well, and seems like it will be strong enough to hold the power I estimate I'll be making. The trans mount in the first post is what I have and it seems very flimsy. I don't like it much, except for that it bolts to the existing bolt holes. I guess when I get he block back from the machine shop and drop the assembled engine in I'll fabricate my own trans mount. I'd rather have a strong tubular cross member than that flimy looking piece of bent flat stock with holes.

Thanks for the insight. I was really hoping that the "bolting in" process would have been as cake as their website made it out to be so I could focus more on the harder stuff like plumbing lines and routing wires.
