FC LS1 pics?

does anyone have any that they can upload onto here or mail to me? i'm curious how well it fits into a 2nd gen.

there are 2 on this page...... 28mpg with 4:10's out back is pretty good :)..... not to mention high/mid 12's at track. Gotta love LS1 torque and lightweight FC's.

awesome pics. i'd like to be part of the club...eventually

this leads to the question i had when i started the thread: how tough is it to change the plugs? i know this sounds silly, but that's one reason i'd never buy a subaru...

and what's that metal box where the stock cruise control goes?

thesatanicmechanic 03-11-04 07:46 PM

Um, Subarus aren't difficult to change the plugs on.

It is the EASIEST car ever to change the plugs on, it takes less time than the 13b, and the box is the PCM

pcm? power control management?

cdk 4219 03-12-04 10:37 PM

PCM powertrain control management. The computer controls the engine and trans in unison, so that the left hand knows what the right hand is doing.

but it's a manual, now i'm getting lost :)

cdk 4219 03-13-04 09:02 PM

It is a transmission, isnt it? OBDII compliant control management systems are affected by many things such as fuel level and vehicle speed. Skip shift features and self preserving features(like the one that retards the timing when you fill up the tank to make sure you didnt get bad gas) to overtemp protection make it much more of a complete powertrain computer. If the FD had this 11 years ago it would probably have been a more reliable car. This is touching the tip of the iceberg of info that the LS1 PCM will store and compute

sorry, i don't know anything about obdII, i never finished mechanic school :)

Hey, this brings up a good question...
Can you change tranny's one an LS1? I think 6 speeds is a little overkill, and I've heard the skip shift feature is pretty annoying. Would there a be a way to say, but a good 4 speed behind an LS1 motor, or would that PCM not allow it? Besides, I heard the rx7's speedo wont work cause its cable has a mechanical pick up, and the T-56's has an electrical output for its speedo.
