(Engine swap) opinions anyone

i'm thinking of swapping a ls6, ls2, or ls1 which would be the best for boosting and which one would be less costly to upgrade.

Look at getting a different rear end if you plan on boosting either of those engines. Lots of guys go with the 8.8 it seems.

Do you even own an FD yet?
I too thought I was going to do the Ls1 swap as soon as I got my FD.
But now that I own one, I don't even consider it.

As far as cost goes I got a quote from Brian Hinson at HinsonSuperCars.com when I was researching (something you should be doing more of it seems) and he said, "On average, the typical customer will spend $20K including the cost of a car fora complete LS1 build. LS2 builds will cost a couple thousand more."

One thing to consider is passing smog and I believe the only set up people have gotten to pass in CA so far is the Ls1. I could very well be wrong on this though.

Hope this helps.

the best for boosting, huh, you would want an iron block bottom end 6.0 LS1 out of a truck.
you can throw in some aftermarket forged pistons and boost that motor to the moon and back.

the truck motors are also cheaper to source since they are not aluminum.

thanks wild7 for the info but is the price only for the engine or for the whole process. do you know how much a good set of piston heads go for.
