I couldn't believe the hp numbers... maybe the street port does do something on a stock exhaust. The scan didn't turn out too well, but I put down 115 ft/lbs and 149 hp. I'm a little disappointed in the fact that they would not let me dyno up to 8k. They asked me what to bring it to, and when I told them they were giving me a bunch of shit and would not budge; they insisted on only bringing it to 7500 because "the one before it redlined at 7." Obviously mine doesn't, but :dunno: what are ya gonna do? Seeing the way the curve is at 7500, I think they could have squeezed a couple more horses out of it by bringing it to 8000. It didn't look quite finished yet. The dyno was from 4000 to 7500 rpms:

The thing that really shocked me was the 1/4 mile run. I had to watch the lights on the computer out my passenger window, so I didn't get my launch right. I glanced at my tach once I staged and when I looked back over the light was already green so that's what happened with my r/t. Like I said, I wasn't really ready so it wasn't my best launch, but a little clutch slip and wheel spin got me this:

What's the deal with the Mustang dynos vs. whatever else there is? Doesn't one read lower than the other or something? How accurate do you think the 1/4 mile is? Let me know what you guys think.

I know, I really wanted them tu pull to 8 but they were really stubborn about it. I'm no dyno expert, and it's obvious that the hp curve is starting to flatten out, but I think I might have been able to get between 150-152 hp judging by the way it seems to be still going. Oh well...

Is anyone else surprised by the quarter mile time?

That's pretty good according to this page: http://rx7.voodoobox.net/infofaq/rx7specs.html which suggests a 15.3 1/4 time.

Yes, it's a dyno 1/4, which is why I'm not sure how accurate it is. Also, I'm pretty sure those numbers aren't correct. I think it's more like 16.3 for the NA's and 15.1 for the turbo's. Thats why I am so shocked.

I wouldn't trust the dyno 1/4 mile...your information here looks closer to correct.

You can't really launch on a dyno roller either....

The dyno roller felt a lot like the street, no faster or slower. They said that it had about the same resistance, too. It's not like I dumped it at 4k and the tires automatically spun right up. I sliped the clutch at first but let it out a little too fast and ended up spining the tires a little bit. I have both runs on my brother's camera but it will take a while to get them up here. It's new so he has to figure out how to get them to me between school and three jobs.

I think I'm going to Maple Grove Raceway next Friday so I'll post those times as well.

Is that weight correct? Seems a bit high.

Well if all the secondaries were in, any other misc stuff (I carrry a gallon of 2cycle myself), full nearly full gas tank, and if hes a fatty, 3125 isn't impossible. S5s were in the high 2700s range curb weight wise?

I think it is more mid 2800's stock, I am a fatty (190), and I had some other crap in the car (half gallon of coolant, cheap "roadside fix-it" kit, etc.). I thought it was high to. But isn't that ~2800 lb. curb weight with a 160 lb. driver and all fluids full? If that's the case, then I'm not sure if it's right or not.

I'm going to Maple Grove raceway today so I'll have another thread made either tonight or most likely tomorrow.

damn get rid of that exhaust and build your self a good quality intake and raise those numbers to the 170+ range.

My next upgrades are a converted power rack, sway bars, bushings, ss brake lines and turbo brakes hopefully within the next two months. After that I'm going with an SDJ header, Bonez cat and Corksport catback and a homemade intake, but it probably won't come for a little while. My job doesn't pay that well.

I just got back from the track and ran a 15.982 @88.56 mph with a 60' of 2.549 and a r/t of .450. I held it at 4500 and slipped the clutch out way too fast. It dropped right down to about 1700 and bucked its way up to 3k. After that it smoothed out and I nailed my shifts pretty well. Considering the trap speed is 1 mph slower than the last run, I'm convinced that with a good launch I can probably pull a 15.3-15.4 flat. I will make a new thread tomorrow when I can get the time slip scanned into the computer.

I also only got 1 run in because it was moving pretty slow and I had to leave at 2:00. Maple Grove is closed for the winter after today to I'm going to see if I can head to Cecil County or Atco to get a better launch/time.
