First of all if anyone read my lower thread for how fast is a 450hp it looks like i might get close to finding out. But not just yet it seems.

Finally got my car back from the mechanics after them having it for a week to go over my install and do the tuning. And I'm expecting some decent numbers so after a week of build up i go to pick it up and am let down again turns out i have a faulty wastegate which will not allow it to run anymore than 6 psi no matter what the mechanics tried (cost me a fortune in labour for them trying to get it working) so with monday being a public holiday over here I have to chase the supplier up on Tuesday and hopefully they just replace it with a new one and it should be back on the dyno near the end of this week.

Given that the supplier said the turbo should be making 13psi at 3500rpm, its gonna be alot of fun when its sorted, car is laggy as at the moment however initial testing proves it's still faster than my mates 6L LS2

Im planning on having it up around the 18-20 psi mark, mods are:

Dowelled, Extend port and 2mm SCR seals (built by dyson rotarys)
PWR Front mount
Synchronic BOV
3" Stainless exhaust
Std primarys, 1700cc secondarys
Billet fuel rails
Braided Fuel lines
Aeromotive style fuel reg
T04Z
50mm external gate
Walrbo in tank fuel pump
Microtech LTX8
16" Thermo (running off ecu not thermo switch)
Pod filter straight off the turbo

do you have the wrong spring on the wastegate, that why you cant hold more than 6 psi?

S4 or S5? 4 port or 6?

1 hp = .747 kw So 205.4kw is 274.9hp. The car only had 230hp before with the std turbo but i think it was faster because it had so much more midrange, I'm not really feeling any power at the moment till after 6k.

As for more info on the turbo it was a turbo kit i brought off my engine builders, cost me 3k aus included

Turbo
Manifold
50mm external gate
1700cc secondarys
Walbro in tank pump
Fuel reg
and i paid a lil extra for a turbo beanie and for them to make up my oil feed and drain lines

As for info on the turbo, this is straight off the pro boost site

Alright I'm gonna update this, thus far i rule this turbo as FAIL this whole turbo kit has been a pain in the ass. As i said in the earlier post I had a faulty wastegate, well after receiving that i took it back into the mechanics to get the tune finished. And they call me up and tell me there is an exhaust leak, half an hour later they tell me there is a split in the manifold. I come to pick it up and a seam has burst. Not happy i called the supplier and they called their supplier and range me back saying it's not an isolated incident and to send it down and they will use it as a template to make me up a steam pipe one.

Now after another weeks i called the mechanic to see how its going and they said it should be done in the afternoon, i rock up hoping to have my car running like a treat and well it's not, its not coming on boost till around 6000rpm with the exhaust unbolted and the wastegate bolted shut. So now i'm in the process of trying to return it. They are trying to tell me they have fitted close to 100 of these turbo's and haven't had issues with any. I think I'm going to try and get them to refund it and get a garett one because I'm just over it

I was assured by the guys that supplied the turbo that it was not worth spending the extra money. Dyson rotarys have a good name and they said they wouldn't jepordise it selling shit, and they have fitted close to 100 of these turbos in the last 2 years and haven't had issues with any. And yeah brad i woulda been the guy you were talking too, avale auto have a new mech called ben who is a rotor nut and knows his shit. I just sent the turbo back to dysons today so we shall see how this turns out

Im just going to say this quickly

PROBOOST is a SHIT COMPANY who dont actually make anything they sell, they have no hand in their manufacture. GRANT DIXon just goes to china, buys everything that looks like a garrett and brings it and sells it for dirt.

I think i know china very well, considering i own more then 4 manufacturing plants their. And i know the difference between Offloading junk, and properly manufacturing goods and backing it up with a good warranty and good customer support.

None of PROBOOST or EBAY or any of those dodgy companies sell Proper roller bearing turbos. They are all bush bearing turbos with water cooling. So i fail to see how you can even call it a t04z.

I hope people take this as a warning to buy off companies that have proven results with REAL CUSTOMERS. NOT I HAVE SOLD 100 to4z so they are great.
theyd be lucky to have sold 10 of them. And they are all shit.

Some of these idiots selling their crap wouldnt know how to make a mould or were to even start. Just buy rubbish, slap a sticker on it and say its great.

ok guys first grant is a top bloke,his products work fine and last,
there is many cars including mine running his products,
my rx7 has one of grants proboost ta45 style turbos on it and a 60mm gate
i have ran a best of 9.7 @ 137mph with a loose convertor and fuel delivery issues,
will keep you guys posted when car is ready and tuned,
the aim is 30psi e85
should make 550-580 rwhp no probs,
looking at low 9s if convertor lets us

Well i didn't buy this turbo off pro boost, or ebay. I brought it from Dyson Rotarys. And as for whats happening with it i was outta town for work for a month, got back dysons had sent me a replacement turbo, slapped it on and it's exactly the fucking same. So they assured me the kit they sold me would make 450hp. So I'm going to drive it down to them once I sort out my new radiator problems (see thread https://www.rx7club.com/lounge-192/what-you-get-when-you-spend-1100-radiator-858520/) so yeah. Not having much luck at all with this car, if i didn't love it so much i'd just sell the damn thing. Oh well.

Oh and as for wanting a good turbo cheap, I'm never ever buying a cheap turbo again. I kinda wanted the garrett from the start, but as i said i was talked out of it.

FINALLY SOME RESULTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gonna go have a word with my local mechanic on monday i think they owe me a few grand, they told me they ran the car with the exhaust off and it wouldn't boost properly still. Took it to dysons and it was making 240hp when they got it, they said the tune was complete rubbish and discovered that my muffler although looked 3" went down to 2" they replaced that and fixed the tune and now im at. Am also pissed off as they said my cat had the center knocked out of it, when i payed them for a brand new high flowed one. If they were gonna knock the center out they could have left my old one in. Useless pricks. Theres some more hp to be had here, my intercooler piping is restrictive at the moment as I ran out of money etc when I was installing it. They said theres probably an extra 15hp to be had by fixing that so im alot happier with the power now...

Yes this is the exact same turbo. I had an incompetent mechanic. Hell i even asked them if i said they had tried with the exhuast unbolted, they obviously hadn't.

interesting.. so the chinese ebay turbo actualy put out decent numbers afterall? how long have you had it since? Im just curious, because I really need to upgrade my setup...

Nah there is a pro boost website, google it and it comes off. This was just the one dyson rotarys supplied me with. One of the guys that works there has one on his car he is up around 480whp its only been running properly for a couple days now.

Pro boost does not seem to have made it to the US yet, all I get are austrailia sites, maybe you become a distributer, should be some big bucks in it

FUCKING ANGRY! Went to my local mech to try and recover some of the costs, thinking an exhaust restriction was so simple i should be refunded and they had knocked the center out of my new hi flow cat. The owner told me he was unaware about the cat being knocked out, and instantly offered to refund the cat and labour. Then asked if he could spin up my car on the dyno to have a look. It made 300hp. He also pointed out that the dyno sheet dyson rotarys supplied me with had my rego on it, but have a look at the date on it. Im in the process of scanning the new dyno sheets and emailing dysons with a please explain. Ill upload the new sheet when im done the power curve looks nothing like the one on they sheet dysons gave me. And my local mech uses a mainline dyno, known for being un fudgable and dysons use a mainline.

whats up with those torque numbers??? you make 120ft-lbs less in 4th gear than 3rd...... also you make 500ft-lbs and say you cant break the tires loose?
what ever happened to the 5250 rule

why not get a more appropriate sized turbo

the scale on the torque graphs is definately wrong, from looking at HP it should be 250-240 ft-lbs max

how are you controlling boost? something is wrong with that or your wastegate, the boost is all over the place

I think the torque loss is a result of the less boost it's getting. As for the boost control it's running straight off the wastegate. And why would I buy a new turbo when I just got this one and they guranteed over 400hp out of it.

Well I got an email response about this today after sending them the new dyno sheets. They tell me they can't explain the HP difference and the sheet given to me was the one for my car. So to double check things I went to another shop in town that runs a dyno dynamics dyno the same as dysons do. And as you can see what a suprise, 313HP. This dyno was calibrated 3 months ago.

So I have just emailed that down to them, if they fail to give me some sort of decent response I think im going to be seeking some advice from the department of fair trades. They told me if i could get the car down to them, it would make the HP they promised

i wont spend 200 for a ebay turbo
but i will just buy a used diesel truck turbo XD
high quality units, not marked up to sell to suckers, and definately reliable XD

I saw the problem with this as soon as i started reading.

They are dodgy cunts. And now they are Dyson Motorsports it sounds like they are just getting worse.

Craig still works there but he is only there under contract (which ends soon) His Dad retired from there other business (Beetroot farm?) and Craig is leaving to run that. The rotary business thing was just a side project (The farm earns them millions :noyes:)
The new owners, I don't know who they are (hence the name change from rotary to motorsport) and i can't say what of them as yet.... but by this account they are picking up where Dysons left off :icon_tdow

It is very easy to fudge dyno figures. I'm always there when i get my car dyno'd. Ben takes me through it all. He uses a mainline dyno also. His has always been a "low" reading dyno.

I'm running a Garrett T04Z ball bearing unit. With a 1.32 rear on a HKS cast manifold with a Turbosmart 48mm pro gate. I have had no dramas (only the setup of the HKS EVC) I need to get it back on the dyno to sort that and we are away.

Yeah well craig is the one that tuned my car. That makes sense as he said that he is paying for my car to get shipped down there, as the owners wont have a bar of it.
