went to the track today (video)

i have 2 videos of me at the track.

the first one is at 8psi: 13.6@106 i think (didnt get the time on camera)
the second one is at 10psi: 13.2@109

first vid (8psi), didnt launch very well, and this was one of my slower runs of the night)
http://www.sporttuned.com/watch.php?v_id=967

second vid (10psi), couldnt get it into 2nd gear very quickly -you can see in the video how slow the shift was- hence the slow ET.

MODS:

Fk..... I ran 13.7 and look at my mod list..... with bald tires (on the wires) and 18 inch wheels. I was launching at 2500 rpm.... what are you launching at????? any help here.. :)

jacobcartmill 04-10-07 09:20 PM

we went back tonight and i ran a 12.67@109mph on 10psi

1.79 60ft

i am doing a big burnout and getting the tires hot before i launch, launching it a about 5000rpms or so with a good amount of clutch slip

Went to the track 3 weeks ago. Ran 10.84 1.53 60 ft. 126.8 trap. Third run on new motor.

What was your time/trap thru the 1/8th on your 12.6 run?

Thanks

mdpalmer 04-23-07 12:30 AM

nice work, a few questions

Right on man, nice work. I want to take my FD to the track to get some timeslips too. What tires were you running? Also, what were your intake temps (if you know)? Finally, any other tips for a first timer? I've gotten pretty good at doing burnouts, but I heard that some guys put dry ice on their intercoolers and intake plenums before a run to keep charge temps down (and increase power, etc.). Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

1. crappy hankook tires that came with my car @ about 25psi air pressure

2. no idea what the intake temps were, but they were probably high -130-140*F probably
3. no genius tips or anything, just shift as fast as possible and make as many passes down the track as you can... and make sure you give the car time to cool off between runs. dont worry about doing burnouts and all that until you have some experience launching and running the car down the track.
4. anything you can do to keep the IC any cooler will help (and help your engine not blow up:))

hm. i have about the same mods. exhaust, intake, ignition, non-sequential, solid diff mounts, and engine torque dampener, front strut bar. on potenza 750 tires, when this motors broken in i hope to be hitting mid 12's like that, would be nice, especially at 10 psi :)
