Well I took the rx-7 to the track the first time, the other weekened.

Yea I finally got a chance to go to the track two weekends ago. Only made 3 runs with the best run being a 11.71@121.3. These runs where made on MT Street radials with a best 60ft of 1.769 bogging off of the line. Just thought I would share the good news. I plan to go back this weekend and better my time.

Awesome time and trap for a completely stock car with slicks! How about some mods? :)

:werd:

but congrats, that is a great ET and trap speed :)

well the motor is completely stock expect for a cold air intake, longtube headers, Apexi N1 dual catback and a Futral motorsports F13 cam. All three runs were with pump gas and 0 psi of boost with no cool down time after the 100 mile drive to the track.

eh, not so impressive after all. I trap higher than that on pump gas......way to bastardize a perfectly good RX-7 :bigthumb:

Well I gave the RX-7 life again, but this time it got a heart with the really big balls. All of the rotary people say you ruin the car when you put a ls-1 in it, but now since I have owned both a rotary and LS-1 powered rx-7 I much rather have the LS-1. The car still handles the same, makes more power, its more reliable and it gets much better gas mileage than it did with the rotary motor.

Besides after buying a RX-7 with a blown motor, selling all of the rotary parts and buying all of the parts for the LS-1 swap. I still only have 12.5k in the car with a complete running and driving LS-1 swap.

As far as trap speed goes my car has well more than 121 in it. The track I went to is known for being about 3 mph slower than most tracks. Hell my mustang trapped 124 at that track then trap 127 the next day at a different track. Plus the fact that the car bogged and still pulled a 1.769 60ft tells me that the car should be able to trap alot higher than it did. I look for it to trap around 125mph+ once I can get the car to launch without bogging or blowing the tires off.

I'm hooking up the nitrous kit on my car this weekend and plan on going to the track next Thursday. I'm going to be spraying a dual stage dry kit, with shooting 75hp off of the line then grabbing another 125hp once I go into 2nd. Which should be enough for the car to run a mid to low 10 on radials and a high 9 on slicks.

Well, I can respect a fast car, although I would never do that to my FD. Anyway, keep us posted on how you do :)

Nice runs but in consideration of a cam and ET streets I would expect that time to be a little lower. Most of the companies that are swapping LS1s into FD RX-7s are getting those kinds of times on a stock cam with just a few bolt ons and drag radials. Maybe time for a new tune? Did you get it tuned for the cam??? What software did you use?

OneBadFox 05-13-05 06:40 PM

Well if you was to read my post, you would see that I said "MT street radials" not ET Streets and if I had a set of slicks and could dump the clutch at 5 or 6 k it would have gone a low 11's on motor. I have seen a bone stock LS1/fd with a auto trans and ET Streets run a 11.6@117. Also with my car trapping 5 mph more means that my car could run a low 11 with proper traction.

Yes I did get a chance to take it back to the track but I only decied to spray 75hp on each stage for a total of a 150shot. The car went 10.98@130 with a 3500rpm launch off of the 2 step spraying 75 off the line and 75 when I went into 2nd but it bogged. Then I decied to lauch it off the 2 step at 3500rpm spraying 150 from home and the car went a 10.83@130 with a 1.689 60ft spining a little. So I lowered the tire pressure in my 255/50/16 Mickey Thompson "Drag Radials" from 16 psi to 14 psi. This time launching the car the same way the car hooked hard with a 1.601 60ft and went a 10.80@129.95. But since the car went a 10.80 at had to try and get a 10.7?, didn't change nothing since it seam to be working well off the line. So I rev it to 3500rpm held it on the two step side stepped clutch and POW.....the car went nowhere. The stock differental decied it was time to give up and blew to peices, so I'll be replacing the differental before I go back to the track.

Oh well you know what they say for you're not breaking parts you're not going fast enough.

ForceFed 05-14-05 02:47 PM

Sorry, I misread your post. Your times are looking good now. High 10s with a small shot of the gas is about where you're supposed to be. Good job.

BTW, did you ever get a tune after the cam?? I'm sure you did but incase you didn't it might be a good idea... :)

Also, are some heads in the future too?

P.S. Do you have any pics of the car? Engine shots, exterior, interior, etc? Plz post up some pics if you have them. Thanks
