new numbers from kan tune today
 

My baseline number was 335 rwhp @ 1.00 boost on power fc. We added the hks twin power and slightly raised boost to 1.05 and with Kan's tuning i made 358.8 rwhp and 307 torque. The curve looks great. Whats more impressive is that we made this additional power with a safer afr of under 11.0 vs my previous tune of 11.2-11.4afr.

The biggest change is in the drivability. Boost comes on strong and hard. car really feels amazing.

i will try to get the graph posted....my peak horsepower is maintained for close to 2k rpms...kan did a great job. Power doesnt even drop off at 8k on my stock port motor.

The game plan was to get boost up to 17-18psi today but it didnt happen. Not sure why. Another member pointed out that one of my couplers collapsed a bit and perhaps that limited boost or not sure if we even tried,,,lol. Needless to say I was happy with the 23 additional ponnies.

mods = all the boltons, stock twins and stock motor.

where was the o2 reading taken from?

I still have serious doubts about anything over 13-14 psi on the stock twins (in terms of longevity)....the little suckers just cook themselves to death, hope you at least have the ceramic coated manifold Rich has been pushing

been running 14-15psi for 3 yrs.

Hey Matty great numbers, are you running a midpipe? And are you using the PFC to control your boost? If so, are you getting boost creep or do you have your wastegate manifold ported?

Steve will be tuning my FD in a week and we have almost the same mods, except I have a HF cat and a street ported motor...my turbos and motor only have 10-15k on them. I better get good numbers like you.:)

yes i have midpipe and power fc controls boost perfectly. My manifold and wastegate are stock.

Tell my friend running 20+ psi for over 3 years on the stock twins that they won't last above 13-14 psi.

Blah, blah, blah....and how many miles is that? 5k?

The fact is most sets of twins rarely last past 80k miles on stock boost, let alone higher boost. Throwing out extremely rare freaks as common occurances is ignorant.

Do those still look good to you? :) Most car's twins don't look far from this at similar mileage. Now, if the turbos are running non-sequentially, that will remove some of the heat stress and wear, but they're still not going to last forever.

The fact is that twins are not meant to be boosted above 15 psi, they are out of their efficiency range and get extremely hot.

Does this car have a 3 bar map sensor, built fuel system, and upgraded intercooler?

I never said it was a common occurrence, I just said tell it to my friend who has run more than 20+ psi on the stock twins sequentially for quite some time and anytime he was running more than 14-15psi it was on race fuel. Of course he is running all the regular mods. The turbos did get blown fairly recently though :D

actually i have come to learn that several people are running 17-18psi with no problems.
