I finally cracked 400rwhp.....Goooo Meee!

Hey Guys,
When I started building this car my goal was 400 reliable rwhp...Well, I made it! I guess I have to set a new goal now...450 maybe?

I converted to single and chose the Gt3540 and streetport by gotham..I was tuned to 16psi and was hoping to crack 400 with that setup...Well, when I went to the dyno back in January I made 381rwhp and was a little disappointed.

Here's the dyno from that run.

http://apneablue.com/rx7/photos/dyno/dybo3.jpg

Ok, now the only ingredient I was missing from this 16psi run was an Ignition Amp...I chose the HKS Twinpower...Mainly because it has been tried and proven over and over...Well, it proved itself once again...I bought and installed the HKS twinpower and went back to the dyno and got 412rwhp...Dyno below.

http://www.apneablue.com/rx7/photos/dyno/dyno4.jpg

So get this...Just by installing the HKS Twinpower and dynoing at the same 16psi of boost it did 3 things for me...

1. RWHP Increase of 31rwhp
2. Increased Torque 18 ft/lbs
3. Leaned me out to about 1.2. Going from 10.1 - 10.3:1 to 11.2 - 11.5:1

So buying the HKS twin power was a win win sittuation for me. No more high rpm ignition breakup and idles and accellerates really smooth.

This dyno was done at the same 16PSI with and without water injection.

The first run was without and I made 409RWHP and then I ran 404rwhp with the water injection....So in terms of RWHP the water injection actually hurt me but what it did was to bring down my AFRs about 0.2 - 0.3 less than the run that I did without it.

Here's the dyno.

So I am a pretty happy camper right now :bigthumb:

Looks very nice! Congrats! 400 is so much fun..wink.wink..

Post it up on wargasm's dyno site so we can check it out...

Awesome, very happy for you David, it couldnt have happened to a better guy :)

I knew all those days that I helped push that bastard in and out of our shop that it would all be worth it someday ;)

superior_force 04-02-05 11:59 PM

would have been interesting to see how the Denso iridium racing plugs would have helped with the high rpm break-up

good job man!

im not suprised you lost power with water injection though. thats exaclty what should have happened. water injection is basically the same as using higher octane fuels, your not going to see an increase in power without raising the boost or advancing timing.

I am so jealous, but I am just starting my long road to 400rwhp. Congrats and don’t blow it up.

nice encouragement. Let us know how many motors you pop on your way to 400, and if you ever get there.

Yeah, I never did understand that...Most peeps on the forum that's the first thing they say whenever something good comes along.

"I just got my dream car, FINALLY!"

Response: Looks good, don't blow it up.

"I just got some new shoes for my baby"

Response: Man, they look great! Don't blow your rear diff with the wider meats!

"I just cracked 400!"

Response: Nice numbers! don't blow it up!

"Going to to get dyno tuned"

Response: Sweet, good luck and don't blow it up!

I know what ya mean Dave. Too many young immature shitheads on this forum. Regardless, congrats my man. Will you be at the Revolution? Would love to buy you a beer :).

Man, wanna go but training started and unless I can get a 25m pool there and a gym I can't leave here. The beer sounds good but I also cut out alcohol till after the record. But we'll link up soon.

Congrats on getting your car to where you want it to be (at least for now!).

I'm surprised by the seemingly large effects of the HKS....

I wasn’t saying anything by my comment, if you or him read it the wrong way, turn your monitor on its side. I hope i do get to 400 someday, but "if" isnt an option. But why you old fucks gotta jump all over us young shitheads? I would want the exact same encouragement and take with stride.

Rynberg. You aren't the onlly surprised one. I am a bit puzzled actually...I have read people gaining 10-15rwhp. but 30! kinda strange...Plus I didn't think it would lean me out from 10.3 to 11.5. I was expecting to maybe go from 10.3 to 10.5 or or somewhere in that range. But it leaned me out a whole point. Deffinaly an odd case.

superior_force 04-16-05 11:18 AM

let's face it, the standard plugs are crap, and you can't gap them.....therefore the high rpm break up, and the need for gadgets like the HKS

Denso iridium racing....try it, you'll like it

old? lol. I just turned 28. I'm not trying to turn Dave's thread into a clusterf*ck, just wanted to make a point. In the meantime, you keep posting meaningless drivel, and I'll continue to post helpful and informative things. Now go study for your 7th period pre-algebra test :).

How much dem plugs run? I was running the greddy race plugs (11s) in the leading and they are $40 a pop after shipping. But since I have the HKS now I am going to run 9s all around.

the_glass_man 04-17-05 02:55 PM

Congrats! How many miles do you have on this setup now?

Since it was installed in October, 4500 miles (93k total on chassis). Before I had this setup I was putting about 3k a year on the car. Now I am driving it all the time. Not daily driven tho.
