Do old shocks cause wheel hop? Lots of 13sec timeslips within.

So I went to the strip hoping to better or at least backup my 12.8@110 and failed miserably. Couldn't get a good time slipping the clutch and dumping at 4.5k and 7k did nothing but produce wheel hop. Hop followed by bog in the case of the 4.5k launch. The slips are from last run to first going from left to right.

1st one- slipped clutch, bogged
2nd one- slipped clutch, thought it was good
3rd - dumped at 4.5k
4th dumped at 7k

Hopefully in car and external vids to follow. On my 12.8 run i had a 2.0 60ft with tons of wheel hop. I ask about the shocks because i've got trailing arms, toe links, kaaz diff, eibach springs...but the shocks are a year older than the car -they're original from a 93 touring.

I can't say for sure, but I'll give you an example of what happened with my friend's 944 turbo. We took it to the track when he got new shocks installed, they were KYB GR-2s, but he had very stiff Eibach race springs, so it was a really bad matchup. When I tried to take the car down the track, I let the clutch out well, although at a little high of an RPM. That sucker came on boost fast, and just wheel hopped and got sideways all the way through first, kinda reminded me of what happened in your video. Anyways, no matter what we did, we couldn't get the car to pull a respectable 60' time, nor could we keep it from squatting on its haunches and simply being the worst drag car we had ever seen.

Now we decided that since he was bottoming out all the time, we'd change his rear shocks to something stiffer. When we compared the KYBs, which were a little worn by then, and the Konis we put on, the Konis literally had a third of the travel in the shock. Now that car is much easier to launch, doesn't hop all over the place, and can actually beat cars off the line. Just my experience with changing shocks.

Since you're on upgraded springs with stock shocks, I'd recommend upgrading them to something that will have less travel, that'll most likely help.

Snub is onto something here! even brand new stock shocks will not really work all that great with lowering springs. You seem to have almost everything else to fix wheelhop(except solid diff mounts).
You seem like you know what youre doing but just in case, how much air are you leaving in your tires??? I go with 19psi or so...I have the unobtanium bushing kit with Gab coilovers everything else is stock and i get no wheel hop whatsoever!

I saw the 3 time slips, you are #400, correct? Just by looking at your traps i can tell you have a mid 12 second car with a good driver. Gotta fix the wheelhop and maybe shift faster without lifting and you'll do 12s!!!! those 60' times are killing you!

What the hell did you run the first time out??? It smoked youre ass!! 12.7 @ 119mph...whatever it was must be putting down decent power!
