13.9 @ 102 Automatic FD @ MOROSO

Ran twice last night. It was cold so I ran 112 Octane leaded gas.

1st run:
I staged first and started brake boosting. Other car took forever to stage so I stopped, then the light started dropping and I didn't have time to get my boost up as high as I liked but got a decent run anyway. Hit fuel cut once in third gear at the transition.

R/T .747
60' 2.416
330' 6.227
1/8 9.217
MPH 81.48
1000 11.864
1/4 >>>14.092<<<
MPH 102.17

2nd run:

Waited for other car to fully stage, took my time and staged shallow, tried to get my boost up higher. This was almost 2 hours later so it was cold as hell, hit fuel cut twice in third gear, transition and high rpm.

R/T .717
60' 2.373
330 6.170
1/8 9.150
MPH 81.82
1000 11.784
1/4 >>>13.997<<<
MPH 102.90

Won both races. Still have flawless compression and perfect idle with instant startup and no smoke. Working on boost problems. 93 Automatic with intake, exhaust, pullies, plug wires and bov.

Is the fuel cut that you are refering to is because the computer senses you are making too much boost?

Outkast 12-06-04 07:31 AM

Yes sir that is correct. Fuel cut varies with RPM/load. At the transition point (4500rpm) it is 13.3 psi but my second turbo coming online spikes higher than that so -----> fuel cut.
Then it settles and as my rpm climbs so does my boost, eventually overcoming the 10.7 psi fuel cut setting towards redline......
(fuel cut again :( )

Outkast 12-07-04 05:55 AM

I also weighed the car at the track. It was 2760.5 lbs without driver and 3/4 tank of leaded gas. I have the videos. I beat a ricer on the second run by exactly seven full cars.

by exactly seven full cars.
limousines or mini coopers?? hehehe ;)

Thanks for a little info on the fuel cut. I did some more researching on the subject. I happened to run into it on a cold day in 3rd gear and I thought I broke something.

Outkast 12-07-04 04:42 PM

about 4.5 limos........... it's a must see man I wish I had the technology to upload it. It was recorded with an analog 8mm. It was also great that a guy predicted I would run 14.7 and he ended up running a 14.9 and a 13.4 in his Z06 with drag radials..........

Thats a good time bro for an auto. I live in Orlando we have OSW and the track sucks. Ive been wanted to go to moroso for a while Ive heard that track there is in good condition. I ran a 13.616 @ 103.7 w/ a 2.1 60 I think on a better track plus the fact that i have more experince w/ the FD and a new ACT street/strip clutch w/ the 12.5 pound XACT flywheel I can see some lower times Im aiming for a 13.3 but maybe one day we can meet up at the track there sometime next month and rep for the FD's LOL

14.9 and a 13.4 from a z06 w/ drag radials:wtf1: Was it his first day driving a manual, rebadged auto c5 or what? Nice runs for the auto fd, with some stickier tires it should go mid/low 13's.

GenXBooster 12-07-04 10:44 PM

really nice!!!
i haven't ran at track yet but before i took my lady to rick's,
i had stock boost at 15psi n i didn't even know about it. btw its an auto too.
luckly i didn't abuse my lady too much to blew the motor, n i drove it for 1 year o.o;;; coulda get myself an boost gauge. anyway, when it was at 15psi it was very strong comparing to now n i remember i always get piss off when my rev limiter/fuel cut come on when i floor it while rpm's not even high.

btw anyone know how do the math 15psi * at stock horse = hp?

Outkast 12-08-04 11:17 PM

Thanks everyone. Devious, nice car and setup. We could meet up so I won't be the only FD owner and being told by "experts" who have a 2000 hp skyline at home :rlaugh: that my shit is going to blow up, etc..... Yeah Moroso is nice as it gets down here, I drive 3 hours to get there. I am going back this Sunday the 12th for a huge race. This time I will run the wife's auto RX8 in bracket. There is also Hot Import Nights on Saturday the 11th at Miami Beach Convention Center from 5pm-12.
And my best guess is 15 psi with a nice setup is 300 rwhp on an automatic. Should be good for 12.8 or so, I.m not sure. :)
Turbogarrett it was a real Z06 the 405 hp one at that (385 hp only blue)
He got better with each run, eventually hitting 12s. I think it should be in the high 11s with the drag radials. Anyway, why do you beleive that I need stickier tires? I did not notice myself losing traction at all I don't even do a burnout or drive around the water box.

Snook 12-09-04 09:37 AM

very nice time!!
I was at pettit getting my car tuned saturday night and had to drive to moroso with my 7 to get some racegas for higher boost. didnt see you there just a bunch of fucking muscle cars which really aggravate me. they are loud and junkers and I can keep up with them lol whats their deal if they are gonna have such a shit car at least make it faster than 10s

My Hero!! :)

.

Outkast 12-10-04 01:07 AM

You're my hero for having your FD look like that and such nice taste in rims. Mine was assembled in 09/92 and purchased few months ago with 11,000 original miles. My best friend just bought one identical to mine that was produced 12/95 (!!!) Only 10 of those!
He paid 12,500 I told him it's a bargain the car is mint and he needs an automatic since he's 6'4'' and gay at shifting manual.

So back to the main subject yeah I think my time kicks ass considering my brakes suck so bad I barely got boost off the line, not to mention the other problems I was experiencing.
:) LOL Thanks again, I'll try to improve soon with a few minor recently acquired goodies.
As long as I can repeat 13 I won't be too disappointed. BTW my car right now has 16,000 original miles. It's a daily driver so after years of driving the crap out of it it will only have 50,000 miles. Nanny nanny boo boo, nananana boo boo :) LOL

2.3 and 2.4 60' times? I have never driven an auto fd, but with brake boosting and traction there shouldn't be a problem getting a good launch and going sub 2 second 60' which should drop your times to low 13's.

Outkast 12-11-04 03:47 PM

I am beginning to think you are right. I watched the video again today and I noticed that as I was brake boosting my wheels were spinning in one place and I was not even aware of it. I think I will lower tire press. next time and push both the brakes and the gas harder. Maybe I can leave harder that way and if traction becomes an issue I will throw on the drag radials I got in the garage. Thanks.
