WTB 16x8 wheels for my FC

im looking for some wheels for my FC, i want 16x8 if anyone has them with the right offset, something around +30. if i have to i will do 17s but at very minimum they have to be at least 8" wide. anyone have anything for me? i was going to go with stock FD wheels but iv herd they wont fit the front because the offset is too high and with spacers the studs arent long enough. suggestions?

let me Pm you

If you want to that's fine, but I don't have any myself and have no personal experiance with either of those wheels. There's also stock Nissan Skyline GTR wheels, 16x8 and 30mm offset, if you can find some.

CarzArKoo1 10-17-07 11:43 PM

what size tires you plan to put on them and I dont' think you can find any wide tires for the 16x8, prove me wrong, I want to know. thanks

the 17x8 mustang wheels are a cheap solution. if cheap is what you're looking for anyway

If using 16 x 8, maybe 225/50/16 is a good choice. ? That is the also the stock size on the factory GTR rims.

Black91n/a 10-18-07 10:43 AM

You basically have 2 choices, 225/50/16 or 245/45/16. Tire choice in either isn't as good as the 225/45/17, which is a very common size, and then there's 235/40/17 and 245/40/17 for those 17x8's.

I run Mustang GT 17x8's with 225/45/17's and am quite happy with them, but they're a bit on the heavy side (20lbs).

I also have the 17x8 Mustang GT wheels on my car. I currently have Falken Azenis in 245/45/17. They are fine for street wheels but are too heavy and tall for track use.

What tire size are you planning to run?

CarzArKoo1 10-20-07 01:05 AM

245/45/16, i'm looking forward to that? where can I get those? any website. I tried discounttiredirect.com they don't ahve it.

CarzArKoo1 10-20-07 01:12 AM

how about 16x9 what size tires. it is so hard to find these 16 inch wheel with tires. thanks

RETed 10-20-07 06:00 AM

245 / 45 / 16 is getting a rare tire size nowadays.
Dropping down to a 225 / 50 / 16 should give you better choices.

Why would you want to run a 16 x 9.0" rim?
Only thing wide in terms of tires is a 255 / 50 / 16, which is a lot taller than the stock tire size.
You can't run wider than 245's in the front within the stock fenders and stock suspension anyways?

Do you even have the power to run such wire rubber?
I find 225 / 50 / 16's are fun for a stock to mild FC turbo.
It should handle anything a non-turbo would produce.
Running wider rubber is just adding more weight...

While the Mustang GT wheels are heavier than is ideal for track use, it didn't stop me from using them on the track several times with good success, even with stock springs and shocks. If you were racing you'd definetely want lighter wheels, but usually with the FC it's class limited to 15x7's anyway.

Josh18_2k 10-20-07 02:04 PM

gt wheels heavy? since when? they are 17lbs

Well I don't know, it seems to me that the whole 17lbs thing is just a nasty rumor unless someone can actually confirm it. Mine are closer to 20lbs. It seems that I always see 2 numbers floating around about their weight, the 17lbs weight people keep talking about, and the 20lbs weight that I've actually observed.

RETed 10-21-07 01:41 AM

Yeah, I'd like to see that confirmed also.

Stock Kouki FC turbo + GTUs wheels are 17 lbs., and they are 16" x 7.0".
My GAB Sport wheels are 15 lbs. and are also 16" x 7.0".
All this weighed on a certified scale.

I can't see how Mustang wheels with 1" larger diameter and wider could be that light?
I have a set of old school Volk Racing Group C's 17" x 8.0", +35 that weighed in at 17 lbs., but they are missing the matching adapter hub to run the proper 5 x 114.3 bolt pattern.
These things are LIGHT due to the spun outers - i.e. 3-piece design.
I can't see how a production cast wheel could be about the same weight.
20 lbs. sounds like a more reasonable weight.

i have a set in my shed, but unfortunately they're wrapped in tires.
no help, i know

BLUE TII 10-21-07 03:30 PM

I am running Volk TE37 in 16x7.5 +30 (12.6lbs) front and 16x8 +30 (14lbs) rear with 245/45-16 Toyo RA1 all the way around. This requires a lot of negative camber and rolling the fender lip under in front, but that works out to even tire wear on my set-up anyways.

I just bought some cheap old used 4 lug Volk GTU that are 16x7 +35 (16lbs) Front 16x8 +35 (16.6lbs) rear which is perfect for 225/50 F 245/45 R on our cars or Sylvia. For my beater FC once I sell/trade off its 5 lug hubs.

Though race tires are still offered and developed in 16" size, max performance summer tires are getting harder to find in a good selection of sizes for 16" rim now.

Going up to 17" may be the way to go despite a heavier wheel. Edge racing has some Awsome prices on 5ziggen FN01RC. $197 for 17x8 that is 17lbs.

You could do 17x8 +35 w/ 225/45-17 Azenis RT615 ($105) all the way around (they even have wheel/tire bundles to further lower cost).

If you don't mind stagger you could do 17x9 +35 w/ 255/40-17 Rear.

If you don't mind fender rolling, camber and bump steer you could do 17x9 +15 w/ 255/40 Front and 17x10 +25 w/ 275/40 Rear

or just front fender rolling and camber w/ 17x8 +25 with 235 to 245 front and 17x9 +35 w/ 255 wide rear.

Thank you mustang and 350Z, G35 for good cheap aftermarket fitments for the FC, finally!

Weigh them anyways, but then look up the tire weights and subtract that from the total and you have an approximate wheel weight. If the tires are quite new it'll be more accurate, as that rubber that's worn off weighs something too.

If I was to do it over again with a somewhat larger budget I'd pick up a set of Enkei RPF1's either in the 17x8, 35mm offset or the 17x8.5, 30mm offset variety, both are a very light (for the size) 15.5lbs. For such a light wheel they're quite strong too. They're a little more expensive than the FNO1RC's, but considering that they're that much ligher I think it'd be worth it. Currently at Edge Racing they're $243 for the 17x8's and $248 for the 17x8.5's, but if you call Rishie at AutoRnD he can probably give you a deal.

^ i would also have to take the air in the tire into consideration, and lord knows what the volume would be, or what the molar mass of air is...
32psi of air in a tire adds weight.
