Will I rub with 18x8.5 rims and 245/40/18 tires
 

offset for the rims are +35 front and rear. i haven't bought tires yet but i was told i needed 245/40/18 for this offset and rim size.

If those are for an FD, yes, you probably will. And for any RX-7 with 18" wheels, you would run 235/40 or 245/35, not 245/40 18.

Negative. Using spacers actually decreases the offset even more. It *might* be doable w/ adjustable coilovers, narrow tires, and rolling your fenders, however, your best bet really would be to get wheels that have the proper offset.

18"x10" Rear w/ 265-40R-18 tires

18"x9" Front w/ 235-40R-18 tires

You can even go with 35R series which are lower. I usually pay about $38.00 per used tire and this place in Miami has the best condition used tires. The place is called ECONOTIRES ph:305-599-2356 the owners name is Rene.. great person and great service.

The wheels are not difficult to install.. You would need spacers that you can purchase at Pep Boys and longer wheel studs which for the rear you can pick up at NAPA Auto Parts and i have the part number for all of them. The front wheel studs have to be ordered from a speed shop since the front wheels take more strain due to all the turning of the wheel then you have to purchase those at a speed shop. I have the lengths also.

All in all its a great option.. I don't recommend lowering the suspension at all... the car looks and rides great with the stock suspension height. I do recommend getting aftermarket Monroe Gas shocks.

Don't run a 265/40/18 rear tire either!!!!!!

7apex7... your offset is too low (35) which means the wheel is out too close to the fender lip. On top of that, the "40" in 245/40/18 is a percentage of the width of the tire... meaning 40% of 245 mm. So, a 245/40/18 is TALLER than a 235/40/18, in addition to being wider.... The too tall part is as much a concern as the low offet of your wheels. Run a 235/40, or a 245/35 on that wheel, and turn with caution!

You will see that even with spacers my wheels do not stick out...

Also, 235 determines Width , 40 signifies section width which in laymens terms it is Height or Profile and the 18 is the diameter. If I go with a 235-35R-18 then the 35R will be lower in height thus getting the low profile look. Capisce ?

265/35/18 is the proper size for the rear of these cars. A 265/40/18 is over 26" tall... 26.3" calculated. The stock tires were 25". A 265/35/18 is about 25.3" I know how the tire size calculation works.

Your 235/40/18 tires is fine... front tire is fine.... 25.4"... A 245/35/18 is 24.75"... pushing it, but OK. 235/35/18 is only 24.5"... thats awfully short, and a tiny sidewall. I wouldn't run that.

Does anyone know how to bump 7apex7 off this forum? If you read his post he is a smart ass and thinks he knows everything about the 7, but as you can see he was wrong on the rim size and to put spacers on.

Because you have an FC, not an FD....

Even with an FC, you shouldn't be running a 265/40/18.

everyones talking about 245/......will a 225/40/18 fit on an FD? ive been looking for the offsets on the rims that im looking at. dont tell me that i have bad taste or anything, but if anyone can help, it'd be appreciated. I am looking at Diamo 9 Karat 18's. i found a place thatll give me 225/40/18 size tires with the rims, but will they fit without rubbing. i cant find the offsets anywhere, but if anyone can find them and/or a picture of these rims on a car it would be greatly appreciated as well.

I doubt there would be a fitment for the FD. If you check any of the sites that sell these shitty wheels, the offset is given as, "FWD", which means that typically, but not always, the offset will be low. Stock FD wheels have a high offset of +50.

thats what i thought ud say :) like i said before im looking for some i like, these havent been my first choice since the beginning, but they are the "best" that i have found. i do like chrome, like anyone, but im not the biggest fan of the spoke style rims. but i dont want the big ass chromes, like spinners, so u see my problem?
