Will 17x11's Fit an FD ??
i was thinking of buying Fikse fm-5's in 17x11's for the rear with 315's, i was wondering what kind of work i would have to do to make them fit and the car still handle and drive properly?

17x11's will fit in the rear. The 315's will make it real tough though. You'll need trailing arms (with some additional inward spacers) and may have to roll or even pull the fenders out a bit. Search for a pic from the underside of Kevin Wyum's car with that setup... I know JimLab has posted it.
Your next option is to use the pettit flares. |
i was looking to use petit flares, if i just used the fender flares could i get a offset to fit the stock suspension? it wouldnt matter if the wheels were pushed out
|
yes... i think you can use up to 12" wide w/ the flares and stock suspension.

I wanted to go with this setup a while back. I still do but haven't bought wheels yet but I do have the M2 Trailing Arms and Toe Links. M2 runs 11's on some of their race cars. I called them about 6 months ago to ask what configuration they used and he told me he couldn't tell me because they don't want to be liable. Odd.

Sweet here i come Fikse FM-5's 17x11 in the rear with 315 nittor drags, Might anyone know the correct offset for 17x11's to fit stock suspension?
thanks |
The 315's will fit, but like he said you'll need the M2 trailing arms, longer studs, and possibly a 5mm spacer. I know Kevin Wyum the 315's do fit but its very tight with stock fenders.
Last I saw he had a 5mm spacer on oneside and they fit |
I think 18x11 has a better chance of fitting than the 17's. Are you sure that Wyum is not running 18" 315s?
|
ya but nitto doesnt make 315/18 tires, and i need a drag radial, so all i need is 2 5mm spacers m2 trailing arms, and i'm getting the pettit fender flares, so i'll be set. thanks

Wanklin: Positive he has CCW 17 x 11 rear and 17 x 10 front.. I spent a year next to his car rebuilding my motor, so I got a pretty good look at his car... :) So, ya I'm sure.
Those 315's are a tight fit and I know he planned to some what flair the rear fenders for better fitment...even they didn't rub. I think 275's up front was a bit over kill though...and not really sure how sharp of corner he could make without rubbing. We had another friend in the shop that year too that had CCW 18 x 10's w/ 285's on an FD and they fit with ease! FYI! John @ CCW can make some pretty awesome fitments. |
What offset do you need for an 18x11 for the rear with the stock body?
|
I run 285 30 18 on stock suspension and lowering springs and havnt had to roll rear fenders and it never rubs even under bumps. The front are another story. 18X9.5 wheel and +40 offset. I was thiming of going with 18X10.5 in rear and maybe i will.

Anyone have pictures of their 11's on their cars? :)
I know this post is a little old. :) -Joseph |
Do a Kevin Wyum search....There out there. Truthfully there to tight...not saying you can't make them fit, but its really tight... He made other mods to make them fit other than trailing arms, but he can let you in on what he did..... Kevin? chime in
