Widest tires on stock RZ wheels?

I got the RZ wheels which are 17x8 and 17x8.5. Ran 235/45 and 255/40 but need new tires and was wondering if 255/40 will be ok in the front wheels and 285/35 in the rear?

I'm currently running 235s all around, and I am wondering what the handling is like with your set up? I want to upgrade the backs to 255, but I don't know how it will affect the driving mechanics.

negative. I'd suggest spending time over at the Tire Rack website.... pick a favorite tire and check out the 'specifications' section.

Overall rolling diameter for a stock FD is just under 25 inches, try and stay around that.

17x8, you can push it to 245/40, I wouldnt go any wider.

17x8.5, 255/40 is all you've got.

285/35-17 is better suited for a 17x10 and isn't very common.

click on 'SPECS' and pay particular attention to the rim width range, overall diameter, and tire weight.

I currently have 245-45 on the front of my RZ wheels and 255 40 on the rear. Only got the 245-45 because I got a slamming deal. I already have my next set of tires for the front and will run 235-40. I would not try to put anything wider than the 255 on the rear (8.5 inch) RZ wheels and nothing more than a 245 on the 8 inchers.

agreed with the second part of your post, but those front are almost 26 inches tall compared to the 25 inch tall rears. Does the car sit a little odd? I'd imagine it wouldnt look right.

Not breaking balls, genuinely curious.

Actually, it looks good because of my current suspension setup. The coils I have are not adjustable due to the struts being seized inside the housing. (They are older Toda Fightex coilsovers and are height adjusted by twisting the threaded strut inside the casing) The front is set a bit lower than the rear. The extra inche makes it look alright. The problem I have is that the tires rub on the fender liners. They are torn to crap right now. I have good condition used that will be going on the car when I get done with the single turbo swap. I wont be keeping that way forever. The starspecs I have up front are almost done. I have new ones to take their place (of the 235 40 variety. I can take pics if youd like to see it?

Once my car is finished and tuned, I will begin working on my autox suspension setup. I see sets of Aragosta coils go for around 900 bucks every other month or so. Mostly in almost new condition. That should fix that right around the time that I put the new tires on the car.
