wheel/tire fitment pic thread

5 Attachment(s)
I know there are threads out there that have calculations and such for wheel/tire fitment, but they (usually) don't have pics and they are usually geared more towards how the wheels and tires fit on the car. I wanted to start this thread so people could post pics of their wheel and tire combo so you can see how much the tire stretches, bulges, or fits perfectly.

If you choose to post pics of how they fit the car, please remember to post if you have stock fenders, rolled, flared, aftermarket widebody, or whatever. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to post camber info as well, and maybe suspension (for reference as far as clearance between wheel and coilover, etc.). And if you've had several setups over the years, please post them up.

The reason I wanted to do this is because I'm currently looking for new tires to fit new wheels and I'd like them to sit perfectly, not bulged and not stretched, and I know tire companies rate their sizes differently than other companies, and most likely the same with wheels. So here goes...

My first setup...
Wheels- Enkei RPF1
Sizes/offsets- 18x9.5 +45 F, 18x10 +38 R
Tires- Dunlop SP Sport FM901 (not sold anymore but I figured new Dunlops might be the same)
Sizes- 235/40-18 F, 265/35-18 R
Optional info- Rolled fenders, no idea on camber, STANCE coilovers
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC00629.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC00630.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC00631.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC00632.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC00641.jpg

Notes on this fitment...anorexic tires on these wheels. Quite a bit of room, no rubbing IIRC. I rolled the fenders anticipating not having a lot of room but there was quite a bit actually.

My second setup...
Wheels- Enkei RPF1
Sizes/offsets- 18x10 +38 F, 18x10.5 +15 R
Tires- Dunlop SP Sport FM901 F, Sumitomo HTRZ III R
Sizes- 265/35-18 F, 295/30-18 R
Optional info- Flared rear fenders, tried to flare fronts but unsuccessful, still no idea on camber (same as before, probably close to stock), STANCE coilovers
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC01657.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC01659.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC01860.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC01863.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC01862.jpg

Notes on this setup...still anorexic on the front, thank goodness because I needed them to be stretched since I couldn't flare the fender. The rear tires fit 10.5" perfectly! I don't remember much rubbing on the front, maybe a little, but not much on the rear surprisingly.

My third and current setup...
Wheels- Enkei RPF1
Sizes/offsets- 18x10 +38 F, 18x10.5 +15 R
Tires- Nitto NT555RII
Sizes- 285/35-18 F, 305/35-18 R
Optional info- Flared the rear fenders a hell of a lot more (probably about 2 inches past stock at this point), camber I believe is about -1.5* front and -1* rear, but I don't remember for sure, STANCE coilovers still
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC02480.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC02482.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC02470.jpg

Notes on this setup...these tires, I feel, are way too tall. The 285/35 fits the 10" pretty well width-wise, but it's just too tall. And the 305/35 bulges out a bit on the 10.5, which would be OK if, again, the tire wasn't too tall. I can't tell if there is rubbing when I'm driving it, but when I'm stopped there is tire residue on the rear fenders where the end of the lip (flare) ends on the stock fender. I believe there is rubbing on the front fenders too but I can't tell for sure. I DO know that the tires rub the frame in front of the wheel on one side, driver's side IIRC. I was thinking about just putting a spacer on there and see what happens but decided to just get smaller tires, and since I wanted a new set of wheels anyway that I'd just get new wheels too haha. I have some Shine 20+ wide front fenders but I haven't put them on yet. I've test fit them and this front setup leaves about 5-10mm of clearance.

Do we need yet another one?

Well I looked for something before I posted this but didn't find what I was looking for. I wanted to make this one primarily about how the tire fits the wheel, and secondary with how the tires/wheels fit the car if people wanted to post that. I'd never seen it this way in any of the other threads, only about about how the wheels/tires fit the car. It's just that the only photos I have of mine are with the wheels already installed on the car.

I can just copy my posts over to that thread I guess, although I was looking to make a database that had a little more info than just "look at my wheels yo". It seems like a lot of people there are just posting how the wheels look on the car and not much about the tires themselves.

Thanks.

OP: Got a pic of the car with the enkeis from more of a profile shot? Thanks. <3 rpf1s

speedjunkie 10-05-10 12:15 AM

When you say "profile", you do mean as much from the side as possible right? Not straight on? If so, I have a profile shot in every post LOL.

chazly413 10-06-10 04:57 PM

I mean like directly from the side, with emphasis on the car more so than the wheels, like so

speedjunkie 10-06-10 11:55 PM

fronts are 18x10.5 -10 still need front tires though...

speedjunkie 11-09-10 07:32 PM

The tires came in last night. I'm going to test fit them on the car in a little bit and I'll take more pics then

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC03326.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC03328.jpg

I took them to get the tires mounted last night and the kid put one of the 295/30s on a 9.5 and put a 255/35 on a 10.5 and was complaining because he couldn't get the bead to seat. And this is what he does for a job...yikes. But they fixed it and this is what I got back.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9...3/DSC03330.jpg

speedjunkie 11-09-10 11:04 PM

So I mounted them on the car with Shine's wide front fenders to test fitment on everything. First thing I noticed, this needs to come WAY down, like an inch in the rear and probably 1/2 or 3/4 in the front. I also need spacers in the rear. My RPF1s were +15 and these are +22, so ideally if they made a 7mm spacer I'd be all set haha. However, I'm thinking maybe 5mm, but I'm also wondering about 10mm. I think I'll probably go with 5 though. What does the jury think? I'm also still torn on the fenders. I think the passenger side is slightly not as wide as the driver's, but at this point I might be splitting hairs haha. Oh, and before I mounted them I noticed some gouges on the inside of the wheels...all the way around...on all the wheels...not happy.

And yes, my garage is destroyed. Et3rNaL's FD is in there too being built.

prew 11-09-10 11:41 PM

really like the new wheels, gouges would piss me off!

Exidous 11-10-10 12:01 AM

Gotta love those shitty ass inside clamp type mounting machines. It's the ONLY reason I won't mount my ccw's myself as it's all I have access too. :-/

speedjunkie 11-10-10 12:21 AM

Yeah I'm not at all happy about the gouges. I didn't know there were different types and that some didn't have those, I wish I'd known, I would have taken it somewhere else. I had them mount tires on my RPF1s and I didn't notice any gouges like that.

ptrhahn 11-10-10 09:48 AM

^^^^

So is one of those pics still of the 295/30 mounted on a 9.5" rim?

speedjunkie 11-10-10 11:01 PM

I swear I replied to this already. No all these pics are with the tires mounted properly.
