Wheel sizing

The stock wheel sizing on the 7's are 16 inches correct? when you guys upgrade your wheels do you go to a 17 inch wheel or an 18 inch wheel? Are 18's to big to put on a car if you stil wana race if they come with 16's you think?

I went to 18"....but hey that's me. Many people go to 17 inch wheels, 18's aren't too big imo to put on the RX-7, and I don't know what racing would have to do with anything

Stock FD wheels are 16x8" And, no 18" wheels are not too big for the FD. Popular opinion on the board says that 17"(plus 1 sizing) is best.

17" for perfomance
18" for show, although a few guys race on 18x10"'s

I recently upgraded from 17's to 18"'s I like the look. Gave up some "go" for more "show"

Wider is better.

think it has a lot to do with what type of racing you're talking about...most people would probbaly get better times with the stock 16s in the 1/4 mile compared to 17s or 18s. but on a nice smooth road course the 17s and 18s are better since you get less sidewall flex. 17s are compromise between looks and ride comfort.
