Wheel Fitment Guide: Slightly confused...

Hoping that I can get some help... slightly confused on a wheel fitment issue.

I'm looking to put 17" wheels on a FD. According to the wheel fitment spreadsheet, if I use 17x9 size wheels, the ideal size tire is a 255/35.

I'm confused on the right offset to keep it flush and yet not rub. The guide says 44 mm for the front wheel and 31 mm in the rear.... which not only doesn't sound right, but but how can I ensure a good flush, not rubbing fitment?

I believe that the wheel that is under consideration is available in 40 mm and 35 mm offset. Any insights are appreciated!

Thanks!

I am getting some RPF1 17x9 ET 45 and I really do not want different offset front and rear...

17x9 +45 rpf1's with 255/35 will fit perfectly.

Is that for all 4 corners? And tires size for all 4 corners?

Yes. Square setup.

I had 17x8 and 9 + 35 from my old FC on my FD for awhile and never had any kind of problem at all. Lowered on Zeal coilovers and my fenders are rolled though. Tires are BFG KDW2, 235/40F and 255/40R

I used to be on 17x9.5 +38 with 255 RS3 all around. Pretty good fitment with fender rolled.

Shoulda titled it RPF1 Fitment Guide:

You car looked just about right, IMO, jasonn. Aggressive, but not hella. ;)

My car is 17x10+38 Rpf1s. 255s all around as well. Rolled,no rubbing.

Next up, get my fenders painted.

I hear ya! My NSX (sold last week) also had the RPF1 setup... 18x9.5 in back with 275/35 tires, and 17x8 in front, 215/40. (NSX is staggered from the factory). I will say that my back RPF1 setup looked very concave compared to the samples that I see here. Not sure why... don't have the specs.

back to topic: I am thinking of using a TSW wheel with 17x9 all the way around, tires at 245/40 or 255/40. I think that is safe yet flush.. offset is 40 per TSW. Does that sound reasonable?

If rubbing is an issue, could possibly go 17x8 front, 17x9 back...

Thanks, it was all by luck since these were off my old car

Nice! Did you have to roll the fenders at all?

255/35-17? I'm sure you mean 255/40-17. Those will tweak the fender lip on +40 offset. At least they did on mine...

Nope. Im sure a VERY light roll would help. On a big bump and full lock it would rub. But honestly, not enough to warrant it. This was lowered on eibach prokit springs and new shock mounts as well.
