Hey, its for a 2001 maxima it has 17" stock rims, it looks like all 17" tires are over 130 bux, Any idea on good places to check for cheap prices on tires guys? Online i mean, Thanks.

never heard of them before and those prices seem to be too cheap for a decent 17inch tyre

don't go cheap unless you need to sell them with tires.

or if it's just an everyday car. you don't need michilin pilots on the car you drive your kids to school in....

There's a world of difference between Michelin Pilots (over-rated BTW) and the "cheapest 17" tires available".

I don't understand why people go super cheap on tires. Everything you try to do in your car has to go through the tires. You say you don't need good tires to take your kids to school? What if you have to dodge or brake to avoid an accident and your bargain basement tires don't provide the grip you need. You would put your kid's life at stake to save a few bucks on tires? I know my example is an extreme case but not unrealistic either.

It just kills me when I see a minivan (bought because of its safety rating) sporting bottom basement Cosco tires...or a high-end sports car with cheap tires.

I just bought a set of FIVE 255/40-17 Pirelli P6000s for $531 mounted and road-force balanced. Apparently Discount Tire is blowing the Pirelli P6000s out of the door for $100 each. These are the summer P6000s with 186 mph Y rating, 94 load index (1477 lbs), and 180 UTQG. Cheap doesn't mean, crap quality...sometimes "cheap" is just a good deal :) I gave my old AVS Intermediates (also cheap @ $104 each last Feb) with 4/32nds tread depth to radkins. Amazingly I managed to get 13,376 miles over 14 months with 5 AVS Intermediate tires. As I recall Tire Rack was blowing the AVS Is out @ $94 each for 255/40-17 (already quoted by ttb), although Tire Rack is completely out of stock of AVS I in that size (dammit).

Haven't you seen the Michelin commercials with the baby in the tire? :) Just kidding...

My RX-7 had shit tires on it when I got it, and I have put shit tires on my daily driver in the past. I will never buy shit tires again for any of my cars. They are so much worse than decent tires, and you can find decent tires for not too much money. The are mushy, go out of round, noisier and harsher than they should be for having no grip; all kinds of problems. Putting lousy tires on an RX-7 completely wastes the rest of the investment in the car -- it makes no sense. A decent but economical set of tires is sometimes no more expensive or just barely more expensive, so it is crazy just to put "any old tire" on the car.

What about the Yokohama AVS ES100. I think that's the best inexpensive tire on the market. Tirerack probably has the best price cause they can get me on shipping. But I think it might be close. I got some good specials recently.
