What tires are you guys running?

I'm going to get tires this week, and i'm just looking to get some perspective on the diffirent brands that you guys are running. I was talking to Town Fair tire, and they were really aggressive on trying to get me to buy the new Toyo's. I've never run Toyo's, but I didn't like how aggressive he was.
I mean, i've run Dunlops, and i've run Yokohama's, and I really liked the Yoko's, but I was just wondering if there was one tire that truly outshined the others in all around(wet and dry) performance.

Im running Nitto nt 555 extreme. Great tire and about $130 each from tire rack. For its price range its the best, I think it could just stick with toyo and some other leading tire brands. I am very satisfied with mine both in dry and wet conditions.

What "new" toyos? The best street tire Toyo makes is still the T1s. I have them, and they're great so far... good grip, price was right, and they are very lightweight.

I don't know exactly what model, but he made it sound as if it was a new model. Maybe it isn't.
They're reaonable in the wet? That's really what i'm scared about. I've heard a few people say that the Nitto's(which are what I was going to originally get) were less than good in the wet.

I run Bridgestone SO3's in 245/45/16 and have no trouble driving 85mph in the rain.
BFGoodrich KDW's in 225/50/16 should also work.

I don't drive much in the wet, but I wouldn't call the T1s a "compromise" tire like the BFG KD or an R-Compound. It looks to be designed for the wet as well.

FWIW, I wouldn't drive this car in the rain @ 80 mph no matter what was mounted. What would be the point in doing that? Thats got insurance write-off written all over it. I'll take it out on a "damp" track, but not in rain or heavy water.

HAD: Michelin XGT on stock rims.. put 50,000km on them so they'd be considered touring tires.
GETTING: Next week...Kuhmo MX 255/40-17 on new SSR 17X9 rims

The Bridgestone S-03 is really phenomenal in the wet, considering it is also great in the dry. They are sort of heavy and aren't the cheapest tires, though. That's what I have been running on the street, and I am pretty happy with them.

This discussion really needs to be about tire models -- all manufacturers make some good tires and some not-so-good tires for our sporting purposes.

This is either a typo or BS. No way a 215 will fit on a 10" wide wheel. I was running 275/40-17 on 17x10 Fikses.

The Toyo T1-S handle great in the rain, better than my previous sets of Dunlop SP8000.

He might have been talking about the new Toyo Proxes 4, all season ulta high performance tire. I have that tire on a Miata because the wet grip with the stock tires was poor. (wifes car) Any all season tire will give you compromised 3 season performance to give some 1 season capability. If you don't drive the car in the winter, you probably don't need this tire.

it fits just fine
i just stretch it over the wheel
it wont fit if i dont run that tire..i wish i could have 265/40 but it just wont fit in the back...the fender lip will cut into the tire...SO i have to stretch the tire.

its not bs.

Arcwelder hit the nail on the head.

That's exactly what I ended up with. I got Toyo Proxes 4's .........235/45R17's for the front and 255/40R17's for the back. I might scum my way through the winter on these tires. We'll see. I'm not trying to drive the 7 in the winter, but this year I might have to(due to finances).
When i'm sure that I won't be driving the car in the winter again, i'll go for a more aggressive street/track model. He also gave me a very good price, so I took it.

Falken Azenis Sport are the ****!! Tread wear sucks *** though. I had some Continental ContiSport once and those were sticky as hell, but were like 180 a piece for 17" =P. Yoko ES100's aren't too bad, I just don't like then for drifting.

If I had known about this deal, I would have purchased the Toyo T1-S. This place has them for $118 in a 245/45/16. Great deal on a great tire

http://www.ec-securehost.com/OnlineT...Toyo_T1-S.html

I wound up getting the Bridgestone 750 for $123 each from the tire rack. The T1-S is a higher performing tire. It probably won't last as long as mine, but I would have bought it anyway ......... if I had only known about this place

I have Toyo T1S 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 and I love them. Before I had yoko es100s and they cannot even compare to the T1Ss at all. Very grippy tires and have an awesome and aggressive tread pattern. Havent had a chance to try them out in the rain but in dry weather they are awesome. They are also lighter than most other tires out there in the same class.
