What Tires do you use?
Well I would be amazed if no one has done this yet. But searched and it was a swing and a miss. What kinda rubber are you daily drivers driving around on.
Trying to find a good street tire to use, what are your favorites? |
Toyo Proxes R888
Front =255/35 r18 @ 29psi Rear =265/35 r18 @ 27psi Works for me. |
^ Not a street tire. The R888 can be driven on the street but it won't last long or perform safely in the cold.
Are you looking for all-season tires? Is budget a factor? How long do you expect them to last? Dave |
For the cheap side, I've been using Sumitomo HTR 200 for a couple of years now. 50 bucks each, and they perform fairly well.
. |
Toyo Proxies T1-Rs are pretty good for the road from what I've seen, they are about mid-range in pricing. I've used them on my road rims for the last 6 months or so.
|
I run Toyo R888 245/45/16.
|
Either Falken RT615s (summer tire) or ST115 (more year round). Discount tire bought the mold for the ST115 so they are available again.

Bridgestone Potenza RE01R is what I run.
|
I have tried A LOT OF brands in tires, mostly because i like to switch wheels every 6 months. The toyo t1r is the best tire for the money. Spend a bit more and get the Michelin pilot ps2, by far the BEST street tire you can run. It was quite, smooth, great tread-wear and was great in the rain. Only downside is they are quite expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the input, yeah looking for summer use only. Looking through a couple options and came across these, it looks well rated. Anyone have experience?

If they have your size, I would recommend Kumho Ecsta MX over those.
|
For a true summer tire, I've been thoroughly pleased with Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s and Bridgestone RE-01R's. I've also heard good things about the Ecsta MX, Falken RT-615. I autocrossed in an MX-5 with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s - we wailed on that car for 2 hours straight (probably 25 runs at 35 sec each) and those tires just refused to overheat and lose grip. That's another excellent tire.

Advan Neova AD07 235/40-18 and 265/35-18
*Very grippy* **once they're broken in** When I first put them on, my touring FD had what I refer to as "Cadillac-" or "pinky-steering." These tires should be broken in *immediately* with no one around i.e. hard left-and right turning, braking. Actually, I'll change that "should" into a "MUST." With the Neovas I get so much grip in sweepers, I'm holding onto the steering wheel to keep from sliding onto the center console or onto my door. In "grip" driving, I haven't actually slid sideways yet, which really says a lot about these tires, because I DO drive pretty fast in the turns - ONLY ON A TRACK, of course... In drifting, they break very predictably and regain grip quickly and fairly smoothly. Wear is surprisingly good, too. I'm running TEIN Flex on stock bars, 1.2* negative all the way around. Hopefully, this is valuable feedback for people considering the Neovas. Josh |
another one for toyo t1r's
fantastic street tyre |
http://www.1010tires.com/tiresearch.asp?submit=yes Those are the two Kumho Tires, why would you suggest the MX over the SPT. Just curious.
|
I have SPT's. I'm not impressed with them and I've never heard anything great about them either.

GoodYear Eagle F1 GS-D3 right now. Next week I get new wheels, 17 inch 5zigin FNO1RCs, with Dunlop Star Spec 255/40/17 all the way around.

Got the toyo T1R and love them way better then the yoko es100s i had. made the car more better in the rain also
|
Does anyone have any opinions on Falken FK-452's? It's supposedly meant for "luxury-performance" type cars, but I was curious if anyone here put it on an RX7.
