Stay away from JIC FLT, Megan and D2.

Megan and D2 is understandable, but was wondering why JIC FLT's are not good?

Care to elaborate as to Why Not Use?

I had FLT-A2s on my old protege5 for years. They held up well, and build quality seemed to be there, but the spring rate loosened the fillings in my teeth! Pretty damn brutal on superslab type freeways. It's hard to get traction when you're in the air, haha!

I've also heard that in Japan, JIC has a different rep then they do in the US (read: not so good).

CONTENT: Bad: Megan, Godspeed, Ebay.
Good: Stance, Cusco, Ohlins, Zeal.

A lot of my clients come to me looking to change from their JLC setup, they compare it to riding on nails. Build quality is average but good luck getting a smooth ride...maybe your girl will like all the vibration :)

well I know of 3 lightly used coilovers for sale by me. HKS hiper damper, cusco zero 2e, and tanabe sustec pro. im leaning towards getting the cusco's, anyone have any input on any of these?

wouldn't recommend ksport, megan, d2, BC racing or ISC.
None of them dyno their shocks and match damping characteristics that I know. You could get completely different valving on every corner of your car.
JIC's are pretty stiff from what I've heard, not sure if they come with really high spring rates or high compression valving though.

BLUE TII 08-06-13 10:45 PM

I had JIC FLT-A2s on my ~400rwhp TII and it was the compression damping that was way to stiff. The car would bind/hop if you turned in too fast and spin if you weren't super easy on the gas. Everyone spun the car the first time they drove it, on the street and track- scary.

Put the FLT-A2s on an NA FC and it was actually a really good auto-x set up. Could rotate the car well- no problems with traction. Still brutally stiff on the steet ofc.

----------
On the TII I switched to JIC FLT-TAR with the same 7k/5k springs as on my FLT-A2s but the FLT-TARs were compliant, very streetable and had tons of traction accelerating.

I went to Stance XRs (now Pro Comp) on the TII when the FLT-TARs were being serviced and liked those even more. More traction over undulating pavement and more rear droop travel.

Had the cusco on my old FD. Loved them, would have no hesitation getting them again.

No complaints with the Tanabe's here. The held up for what I needed them for.
