What do you think of these rims?

I know there Exel wheels but there only $899 for a set of 18x7.5 in Gunmetal with tires. http://www.wheelmax.com/Wheels/exel/radiusgm.gif

Mahjik 11-10-03 08:15 AM

The design is nice, however, what car are you thinking of putting those on? Those are too thin if you have an FD.

Scrapiron7 11-10-03 08:46 AM

They remind me of the Enkei RPM2s.

rotary4 11-10-03 09:03 AM

Yes I was thinking of putting them on an Fd. How wide should they be? I'm assuming 8+

8 is the stock size. You would want at least that. However, if you are going for 18" wheels, I would look at 9 or 9.5 for width.

adam c 11-10-03 05:07 PM

I like them.

neofreak 11-10-03 05:18 PM

They're Volk SE37A knockoffs, not Enkei RPM2. (I have both)

SleepR1 11-10-03 05:52 PM

Too narrow. Need at least 9.5 wides with 265/35-18s to make 18s worth having!

Ethan RX-7 11-10-03 05:53 PM

The previous owner of my FD had put 7" wide Niche shocking-shocks 18's on it... poor FD. I went 8 in front, 9 in back.

MAZDASPEEDS FD3S 11-19-03 01:14 AM

Need to go wider not thinner.

OneBadRx7 11-19-03 01:55 AM

Ok, I understand that the stock wheels are 8" BUT if someone was to put a set of 18x7.5" wheels on their FD with a +43 offset would it look ok? It may not perform as well as a wider wheel but if its for looks would they look good? Or would they look too "tucked in" with a 43 offset?

neofreak 11-19-03 02:37 AM

:gotrice:

Please don't buy wheels for looks. You're a legitimate sports car owner, now. This means you buy stuff for your car that adds performance, not show. Don't be a typical Civic owner trying to "pose" like s/he's got a sports car...you don't have to do that as an FD Rx7 owner.

OneBadRx7 11-19-03 05:29 AM

I was just simply trying to get an answer for the guy that posted this thread originally, not for me. I think he just wants to know if they will look weird or bad since they arent real wide. Besides I dont think adding 18" wheels are really adding any kind of performance, he could always put his stockers back on if he goes to the track.

I really can't explain how stupid your post really sounds. And I always see you posting similar opinions as this. I don't know why you think you are the official rule maker for purchasing FD aftermarket items. I can agree on buying good rims and wider sizes, but to sit here and TELL PEOPLE not to buy wheels because you own a true sports car and that will "make you a poser"?? WTF??? Honestly, this annoys me because it send a stupid message to others reading.

FWIW, my humble opinion... you can buy whatever you want; but if you hear other serious FD owners snickering behind your back after they see the uh...er..."stylin rims" you bought for your FD; don't send me hatemail--cuz, I told you so ;)

Because I care what other FD owners think because I bought a quality set of rims?

Once again, who makes you or them the God of RX7's? Personally I think trashing your FD around an autocross track is stupid. Am I gonna talk behind your back like a 16 year old? No, because it's their car.

Scrapiron7 11-19-03 11:37 AM

I have to agree. I think 7.5 in rims is a total step backwards if you are driving an FD. If you ever plan to add HP you will need more traction, and 7.5" is not the way to go if that's the case. They will look awfully narrow on an FD. I would look at 8.5" or 9.5" width if I was you.

Yeah, I agree it's a waste of time and resources to drive your FD like it was engineered to be driven. What do I know about FDs anyway? 8 years of ownership and 7 years of motorsports driving is hardly enough experience and knowledge to render an opinion on anything related to the FD3S

yeah i dont really trust exel..

but what about these rims?

http://www.wheelmax.com/Wheels/AZA/AZA.htm

im looking at the Z-2, they offer (2)(235/40/18) 8.5 for the front and (2)(265/35/18) 9.5 for the back, rims and tires for 1699.. is that a good deal? also, are A.Z.A a reliable name?
