What do these parts actually do on stock suspension?

I've had coil overs for quite some time so please please excuse the stupid questions! I was wondering if someone can explain to me what these parts actually do. I'm going back to a stock setup in my car and I am missing these pieces.

First...this black flat rubber washer looks as though it prevents movement somehow but it does not mount on the body, is is actually needed? What the hell does it do?

Second

This spacer, what does it actually do? Is it needed?

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its called a Stopper on the parts manual. Not sure what it does but it normally goes below the big nut that is under it mounting flush to the shock tower. I speculate it might be some kind of dust shield. The FSM should have a good exploded view of the assembly.

No idea about that big rubber donut either. Its called a Mounting Rubber.

I reused both pieces on my car but have seen some w/o them. I'm running Konis with Ground Control coilovers.
